I had been here for a weekend in late December 2014 and it turned out to be an awesome experience in Mombasa. As I arrived early morning to backpackers I could see the beautiful sunrise by the beach opposite to the backpackers on the Mombasa beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. It is a very economical place and fit... More

The rooms where very dirty, the whole night i itched and i didn't know what it was. There were weird parties in the hostel where people used drugs and the staff had lack of it's own house rules and were very loud. When i went to sleep the door of the dorm couldn't be locked and the building was full... More

I visited Mombasa Backpackers a few times earlier this year and had a great experience. I was disappointed when I went back to find that the management had changed. It went from being a fun lively place where meeting other backpackers was easy and laid back. Yes, more of a party atmosphere...but more fun for what backpackers are looking for.... More

If this place was once rated as a hostel of choice, it is definitely not any more. The place is showing the signs of wear and tear from a lack of upkeep. I think Management is operating off the idea that their guests are always too drunk to notice the quality of accommodation on offer. They website states "the fastest... More

Great friendly staff, took us to local clubs and are genuinely nice people. There will be loud music at night, and as other reviews state, the internet is borrowed from the adjoining hotel, but neither of those bothered me. If you don't want loud music, if advise asking for the side building, and definately not the bamboo shack. (It costs... More

I stayed at Mombasa backpackers for 5 nights and would highly recommend it for many reasons. The staff is very friendly and the food is cheap and delicious. The pool is well-maintained and the rooms are clean. I stayed in the 8 bed dorm (female) and we had our own bathroom and a big area just to put our luggages.... More

I stayed here for two nights in December 2013. Was a party zone for sure, but I knew it would be that kind of place from the ad. The breakfasts were simple but pretty decent, though takes a long time to prepare - but you can swim until your pancakes are ready! Room wasn't super clean and shared bathrooms a... More

I stayed here a few months ago and have just gotten round to reviewing as I don't normally do bad reviews but it's such a shame this place...it has the potential to be the most amazing hostel!! 5 mins from the beach, nice swimming pool and outdoor area. Unfortunately the place was really dirty - and I'm not fussy!! My... More

Its very close to the beach, like a 5 minutes walk. The environment is homely and the arrangement is good enough according to the amount you pay. Lovely swimming pool and in the evening you really pass a nice time.
