The island is a place of rolling dunes and endless beaches, where villages nestle among coconut and mango trees and dhows ply the waters. Whether you're interested in the arts of Lamu, one of the islands many local festivals, exploring the surrounding archipelago on our beautiful Mozambican dhow's, sampling the local Swahili cuisine or just relaxing on one of the many white sandy beaches - Baitul Noor is the ideal place for you!Specifically designed for the budget traveller, our hostel-type accommodation offers dormitories and private rooms, a traditional Swahili restaurant serving affordable Swahili-style food and an extensive rooftop lounging area to unwind and relax on. Our central location means you're only 2 mins away from local shops, the seafood market, banks, restaurants bars, the seafront, and 20 mins from the bus station, airport and the white sandy beaches of Shela and Manda island. The lady of the house looked after us so well. We felt right at home. She gave us some great tips on places to go and eat in. She even brought us to the places we needed to go to which was great as we had so little time to figure out where would be good.
