I'm a Hilton Honors member and booked this hotel expecting a hotel like other Hilton hotels I've stayed in domestically and internationally. However, this hotel isn't up to what you might expect after staying at a normal Hilton. I stayed in a room and found the rooms in this hotel were just the bedrooms of suites. The hotel had been built with all suites, but to rent individual rooms, they bolted the hallway doors of some suites open, removed the decoration and furniture from the entry foyer and living room, and installed locks on the bedrooms. I had a room in a 2-bedroom suite, so the other room of the suite was directly opposite mine across from what used to be the living room. The first thing I noticed after checking in was how worn out the bathroom was, with paint peeling off the cabinet door and black mold in the caulking of the shower. I also noticed the carpet was dirty. They had cleaned debris off the carpet, but the carpet was darker than it should be, and I would recommend you bring an extra pair of socks or slippers to wear while walking on the carpet since the hotel didn't have slippers in the room. A few days later I saw the housekeeping crew cleaning another room and discovered they don't vacuum the carpets. The housekeeping people just use a brush to sweep debris off the top of the carpet, so all the dirt in the carpet fiber never get removed. The carpet in my room really could use a shampoo cleaning. The next thing you'll notice about the rooms is how many things you would normally find in a Hilton hotel missing from this hotel. I went to the table in the room to write a note regarding the museum I planned to visit the next day and saw that the table didn't have an notepad or pen/pencil. I open the drawers and found they were all empty. Normally Hilton hotels would have some pamphlets or a binder with hotel information describing the available services, including a menu for room service. There was nothing in this room. I learned about what was available at this hotel by looking at their website, which claimed room service was available but there was no menu. Also, if you don't like the smell of smoke, don't hesitate to ask them for another room if you detect the smell of smoke after entering the room assigned to you. Apparently, they let people smoke in the rooms on some floors, despite the no smoking signs. When you do call the front desk , be prepared to have to explain every request twice, because they don't seem to have much experience dealing with hotel issues although they are willing to try. For instance, when I found the RJ-45 cable in my room was defective and I couldn't get a connection to their router, I called the front desk to request a replacement cable, but instead they advised me to call another phone number that turned out to be customer support for their ISP company. There was nothing wrong with my computer. I had to take the broken cable down to the lobby to ask the customer service woman for a replacement. This shouldn't be necessary, but it is at this hotel.

Hotel's Favourite
I think this Hilton is the best one in Cairo at the moment. They take the Corona situation very serious (although quite some guests unfortunately don’t). The staff tries to enter the room as few times as possible. But if needed housekeeping can be requested. Also because of Covid, guests that book a room with breakfast (or have it included) have a choice between room service or breakfast in the restaurant. There are no limitations on the breakfast options. The roomservice menu (dinner/ lunch) still has many options (more than other Hilton hotels worldwide during this pandemic). Rooms do have a classic interior, but all is really well maintained. The pool is located on the bank of the Nile, the only downside can be that it is sunny until around 1pm. I love the location in Zamalek, which is an area I like to wander around. The icing on the cake is the very friendly and helpful staff…. I can recommend this hotel fully and can’t wait to return here.

Granted majority of reviews I looked at with hotels in Cairo all stated how the hotel seems dated so I went into staying at this particular Hilton with that in mind. Not a big deal for me. The issue first arise at check-in we were not told that we had to request room service due to Covid. Which we would not have mind doing so had we known that but we went three days out of our six day stay with a dirty room only to have to call for two days in order to have the room just the one time the day before we left Egypt. Additionally, when we got in the room it smelled very dingy the carpet looks like it needed to be replaced due to possible water spillage the floor of the standing shower was dirty I looked under the bed and it seemed as if it had not been vacuumed in a year which had a very disgusting smell to it. The food at the restaurants was subpar not a lot of flavor. I will say the best thing I ate was from the Japanese restaurant. Checking out was a nightmare the same front desk agent that checked me in checked me out as well, and he was all over the place and very confused. People would walk up to him as he was assisting me and he would stop helping me to help them even though I had a flight to catch and I told him to please assist me first. Intern, he Made a mistake with the total charge and had to run after me outside in my taxi before I left for the airport to bring me back in in order to tell me he did not charge me correctly. At this point I really didn’t have time to try and figure out everything but I can assure I was NOT confident he knew what he was doing. While dinning by pool, we had to track down someone twice to bring menus and take our order. Mind you it was only us and 3 other tables out there. You could see staff just standing around looking at you. These are the big issues. Oh and oddly enough guest relations was only there at night. I had a booking at the Intercontinental and I should’ve stayed there.
