After staying at Ibis Hotel our first time in Seoul, we decided to try nearby Metro Hotel this time around. Both are good choices for the Myeong-dong area. The 6015 bus (10,000 won fare) drops you off at Ibis, just take the first side alley and walk less than 5 minutes, look for Smoothie King and you’re there. Staff was...

It is worth for the money to stay at Metro hotel. The hotel is near by to airport bus station and train station. Besides that, the hotel is center of most attraction place. Just can go back hotel to rest a while before go to next attraction place.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April, due to the very high ranking on TA. However, I feel that the ratings appear to be inflated. Good points: 1. Extremely convenient location: right in Myeon-dong shopping area. Many restaurants nearby. Very close to subway stop too. Airport bus 6015 with very short walking distance. 2. Good wi-fi 3....

This is my 2nd time staying at Metro Hotel and I must say that its definitely a worthy choice! Compared to my last visit in 2010, the hotel service has just been getting better and better! The receptionist were friendlier and very helpful, the hotel breakfast offered a lot more choices that it did before. The best part of the...

Its my 3rd trip back to Seoul, Korea and my 2nd time staying at this hotel. This time I went there with my sister, cousin, and my mom (its her first trip to Seoul). We decided to stay at this hotel again due to its location, its right in the heart of the shopping district, Myeongdong, and because the metro...

We booked the metro hotel without any problems by email. We arrived early so were able to leave our luggage with the hotel and explore the area. Check in went smoothly, staff were able to communicate easily in English. We had a room C with a UK queen bed which was clean, a bit small but fine as we were...

This is a great little boutique hotel. Location is fantastic, and when booking direct, breakfast is included in the price making it a fantastic value for money. Staff were pleasant, it was great to see familiar names, Lebecca and Aeri with whom I've had email conversations with... Thumbs up to the cleaning team who made up our room after we...

We stopped twice in two grades of room. Both featured very comfy beds and were quiet. The breakfast buffet is very good and varied with great views from the 9th floor breakfast room. Staff are very attentive and offer positive assistance. In house self laundry is good if traveling light. For the price....some of the fixtures and fittings (especially carpets)...

The hotel's location is great. It is right at the end of the MyeongDong shopping district. It is right across the road from Lotte Departmental Store and Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is like 2-minute walk from the Euljiro 1(il)-ga subway station.

Metro Hotel can't be beat for the price. Hotel is a little hard to spot and a bit tucked away, but once found the location is extremely convenient. The hotel is relatively small and like a boutique hotel which is nice so that its not overflowing busy and hurried. From the airport you can take the Korean Airline Limo Bus...

Staying in Myeongdong / Namdaemun

Neighbourhood Profile
Myeongdong / Namdaemun
Arguably Seoul’s most famous neighbourhood and undoubtedly one of its most popular, Myeongdong takes shopping and eating to new heights, with hundreds of shops, restaurants, and cafes all stacked on top of one another. The rise in popularity of Korean cosmetics, fashion, and more has made this area a must-see for visitors who come and marvel at Myeongdong’s often frenetic pace and energy. Lotte and Shinsaegae’s massive department stores are also popular draws for both Korean and luxury products. The department stores, just like Myeongdong’s streets, are crowded around the clock. Myeongdong’s many street food carts are also immensely popular for their inexpensive and quirky offerings (French-fry-encrusted corn dogs, anyone?). The neighbourhood’s popularity, as well as its close proximity to other popular sights and neighbourhoods, makes it one of Seoul’s most popular places to stay.
