Good stay, it's a budget hotel but very clean and reasonably well equipped. It's quite centrally located and I love the best it's right round the corner of a food stall street. You got all sorts of great food around this area and the hotel is located right next to a convenient store as well. Recommended for anyone who don't...

It is a small hotel but great location, walking distance to Insadong and Myeondong. We are a couple with 8 year old daughter, a good hotel since it is only a short walk to subway station(s). The room and toilet were clean and comfortable for the budget amount spent. the niche of this hotel is definitely its location.Even The bus...

Greentel is close to all the main attractions and the staff are amazing. Although there was a bit of a barrier with language they were always willing to help and were extremely friendly The room had a very home like feeling and was big enough to fit our ridiculous amount of luggage However there is no elevator so be prepared...

Very well located, a lot of restaurant's and bars in the area and close to center, metro and bus to airport. Very nice staff, helpful in all the needs. Corean room for two, very little , no space for baggage, maybe a good experience for no more than two nights(for westerns). There was a problem with our bathroom, that wasn't...

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
