AMerican visitors, the futon on the floor may be a bit harsh for long stays. a couple of days max. is good. no chair in room. Lucy the owner is great. The breakfast of bimbibap is tasty. as for directions, the best way is to take... More

Ms. Lucy was a wonderful host. We enjoyed chatting with her Korean culture and eating her home cooked Korean breakfast. She was very attentive to our needs and keen to assist us. The guesthouse was very cosy and quaint. It is very close to the Bukchon village and other attractions. Also about 5-8 mins walk to the metro station but... More

We stayed there for 7 nights. The owner Lucy and her husband are fascinating; very helpful and wiling to help. It just feels like living with a family. Besides, the locations is opposite to the changdeokgung, and that just need about 10-15 mins to walk to Gyeongbokgung. Very convenience! Strongly recommend for people who like cultural stuffs.

I stayed here for three nights, and really enjoyed my stay. Lucy is a warm, generous hostess who goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome. No question is too difficult! The twin room I stayed in was lovely and warm, and Lucy also provided additional treats each day, such as local fruit or delicacies. Breakfast is also... More

Lucy is a great hostess that will make you feel at home in this guesthouse. The courtyard is well maintained, the room you stay in is very warm and quiet, and you get served a nice breakfast in the morning. Good place, near Changdeokgung palace. Floor is okay and warm. Access is not convenient. It is deep inside small alley. They don't explain by viewpoint of customer. Left right was wrong. Need more hot water. :)

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.
