This is a long overdue review, but I would just like to express my gratitude to the staff of this hotel. Me and my mom stayed here last November 2013. After we checked out from the hotel, heading to the airport, when I lost my valuables bag. Everything was there, passport, money, credit cards etc. Thus we were not able...

It was advertised as city park hotel jongno on 'bedsonline' when it is a motel. U will receive nasty remarks by locals when you go back to the 'hotel'. Saw a young Korean couple asking for price; and the person at the counter warning them to be careful about their actions as I am around. Dishonest pricks; non english speaking....

Me & my husband stayed here for a total of 5 nights! Ive decided on this hotel after going through so many reviews and reading up on the hotel and also other nearest hotels. My key lookout then was definitely the location of the hotel and easy access to airport. Extremely grateful that I came across this hotel and all...

Great location to Changdeokgung and the Airport Limousine Bus Stop is only 5 mins away. Not easy to locate for the first time, then there will be no problem later. It is also within 7-10 mins of walking distance to 2 different metro lines . The rooms are packed once you are out of the room. There was an instance...

Great location as it is 5 min walk to Changdeokgung Palace and very near the subway (Anguk station, exit 4), if you're going to Insadong, it's around 15-20min walk. Price is very affordable given the amenities and the quality of stay/room you get (aircon, spacious room, clean toilet w/ bathtub, television, refrigerator, computer, etc.). Staff is friendly although they speak/understand very...

A very spacious hotel with new amenties. Big TV and computer. Fast wifi. Very near to one of the palace in Seoul. Subway about 5 minutes walk. Easy to hail for a taxi walking to the road infront of the motel. No laundry service provided. Very little english spoken. Breakfast only 1 egg each, coffee, bread jam and butter.

Staying in Gwanghwamun / Jongno

Neighbourhood Profile
Gwanghwamun / Jongno
If Gwanghwamun is the unofficial living room of Seoul, Jongno is the main hallway connecting some of Seoul’s most important historic sites and neighbourhoods. Being one of Seoul’s oldest neighbourhoods, the area is rich with history and culture in its palaces, shrines, and temples. Stand in the centre of Gwanghwamun Square with Gyeongbokgung Palace and Mt. Bugak in front of you, King Sejong the Great statue behind you, and modern office buildings encircling you—it’s one of the best ways to experience both past and present Seoul in one spot. The main street of Jongno is mostly dotted with restaurants and cafes, but explore deeper within its intricate alleys to pass decades-old restaurants, mom-and-pop shops, and pojangmachas (tents that open at night for quick bites and drinks) and life seems to run just as it did a decade or two ago. Don’t forget to stop at Gwangjang Market, Korea’s oldest traditional market, where it’s just as fun to explore as it is to eat the affordable market dishes that locals have been enjoying since the market first opened in 1905. For a break from urban life, walk along the restored Cheonggyecheon Stream that runs parallel to Jongno for a moment of natural refuge in metropolitan Seoul.

“We stayed at room 403, there was no outside noise. But a lot of noise from the upper floor where they were cleaning all the nights. If you stay at the 5th floor, maybe the noise will be less. If you choose for a double bed, the bed is against the wall, so 1 can not get out easily. We chose therefore for 1 double and 1 single bed. This room was much bigger for 3$ more.”
