I stayed for a weekend in Yangon while my boyfriend was visiting from Hong Kong. The location, right on a street corner, within very reasonable walking distance of 19th street, Bogyoke market and even the train station - is ideal. Some of the staircases are challenging and feel a little rickety coming down to the bathrooms, and the initial stair up to the hostel is steep and long, but the rooms are efficient, some have great windows looking onto the bustle of the street outside, and the breakfast is good. Great if you're on a budget and want a wonderful staff and strong wifi (a rarity, it seems, throughout Yangon).

This hostel is spotless, all the time. The rooms are small and the plugs are in inconvenient places. Staff are wonderful - they go above and beyond for their guests. The only thing I did not like was that long stairway to get to the hostel

If you are traveling on a budget, then the SAT Yangon is definitely the place to go to! Ideally located in the heart of downtown, you are close to lots of shops, banks, pharmacies, restaurants, and the 19th street BBQ scene. The friendly and helpful staff is what makes the difference at this guest house. They are so nice and will do everything in their power to make sure you have a pleasant stay. My plane was landing at 5:45am and of course my room wasn't ready this early in the morning. Well, they provided another room so I could rest and I was able to move in my room later that afternoon. Breakfast was different every morning and it was delicious. And the wifi worked well. The guest house is on a very busy street corner, so it can be quite noisy at times. Try to book room 204, which has no window. Spent two nights in that room and I slept very well. Also, the A/C in room 204 is nice and doesn't make much noise. The staff was there to help me out with everything, from booking a driver to pick me up from the airport or take me to the bus station, to booking bus tickets, to offering suggestions for places to eat. They were awesome throughout my stay. The SAT Yangon is clean guest house. The only problem is with the Italian bathroom, with the showers so close to the toilets. As soon as someone showers, then everything gets wet and it's hard to keep that looking good. But other than that, the rest of the property was always super clean. I would go back in a heartbeat if I ever return to Yangon!

The Hostal is in a terrific location, the staff bend over backwards, it’s spotlessly clean, wifi is pretty strong, breakfast is good, and it’s quite inexpensive. What more could you want or expect? I will stay here again.

The location is good although on a very busy corner. Travel time to/from airport around 40 - 70 minutes depending on the traffic. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Rooms on the reception floor were small but wifi was strong. Rooms on the top floor were larger but wifi was weaker. Breakfast was typical budget hotel breakfast. Shared bathrooms were not a problem at all. If you travel on a budget and are ok with budget accomodations, then you will like it here. Reception is up a flight of stairs so if you travel heavy or have mobility issues, this place may not be for you. I stayed here twice on my trip and would stay again.
