The staff believe that the hotel's name has to do with aspicious number 8 in Chinese culture. We were lucky to find this lovely little hotel. It is not located near any tourist attractions, but the very friendly staff are accustomed to hosting foreigners, in part because the MSF (Doctors Without Borders) office is just 4 minutes' walk away. The rooms are extremely clean and of adequate size, given the very reasonable cost. The mattress is an admirable combination of firm but soft. Breakfast was perfectly fine, although not memorable. The staff, from the housekeeper to the driver to the manager, were all very kind & helpful. Very nearby is probably the best hospital canteen food that I've ever had, across the small street from Aung Yandana Hospital (the best fermented tea leaf salad that I've tasted). If you need to be in this (Thingangyun) neighborhood, 8 Days is a good choice.

Stayed for 2 nights (4/5 April) and cannot rate this hotel high enough. Checked me in at 7am following the night bus from Bagan. Efficient and friendly staff with the owner speaking excellent English. Set up his pc so that I could access the internet ! Large bedroom (401) with the best bed and pillows in Myanmar. Great wardrobe space with desk, tv and ac. Bathroom brill with a wonderful shower providing hot and cold water. Loved the green subdued lighting. Spotlessly clean thrughout. Breakfast and other meals taken on the roof garden with great views over the city. Many eateries nearby including the Lucky 7 tea house. Arranged a Grab n Go taxi for me which is cheaper than simply flagging one down. Some may say 8Day is a little far out. Rubbish. Cheap and easy to get anywhere by taxi. Happily stay there tomorrow

I used this hotel on a recent business trip as the company I was visiting were a 30 second walk away. The hotel is a 20 minute drive from the airport, it's quite new, staff are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean with large screen TVs and nice bathrooms, breakfast is buffet style and adequate. The Manager is a nice guy and very helpful. If you're visiting as a tourist you'll need to be prepared to take taxis into the centre of the City (they're very cheap) but the hotel is across the road from the lake which is also nice. I'd recommend it if you're on a budget.
