The location is really good and when arriving at the guest house it appears as a little oasis in the mid of a bustling, hot and dusty city. The rooms and bathrooms are then quite disappointing. The walls bear traces of a moist and humid summer with many mold stains, the floor of the bathroom is made of wooden slates and makes thus a dirt trap, the curtains are old and partly dodgy, the light in the rooms are neon lamps and thus not really cozy. The guest house bills everything in USD and uses an exchange rate of 1300 when calculating MMT, even though most of the guest houses and hotels in Myanmar already changed their bills & price lists into MMT. The menu offers Thai, Chinese and international cuisine, but no traditional Myanmar food, which is a pitty for foreigners who want to eat and try different local food. And the food currently offered is not the best. Finally, I do not only want to be negative. A very positive experience was the friendly and helpful staff. When we for instance asked if we could check out only in the afternoon because our flight was late in the evening, they checked their room availability and offered us to stay in our room until evening for free - thanks a lot!! Please take more care of your gueshouse and maintain your rooms better! A bit more effort and regular small renovation would make a big difference!…
We stayed here for our two nights in Yangon and we were very pleased! Best of all was the kind and charming staff, they helped us book taxi and buses. The room was clean and the decoration simple which we appreciated. The air con was functioning ok. The location is also good with just a short walk to Shwedagon Pagoda. The b&b is situated on a small and calm street. The breakfast was huge and also very good, ok coffee and the bread wasn't just the typical toast bread. We highly recommend this place! If we come back to Yangon this is the place we will stay at!
It was a wonderful little guest house, we were greeted with the biggest smiles, and the warmest of welcomes. We were fortunate enough to have a room with a balcony and screened windows that opened. The breakfast that was included was delicious, ant the outside restaurant offered a lunch and dinner menu as well. We had dinner there one night, and it was lovely. The walk to Shawadagon Pagoda is about 15 minutes, and Bogyoke Park is steps away, it is a beautiful park. Just up the road as well is Bogyoke Aung San Museum.
After 2 wonderful weeks in Myanmar this was the only disappointment. The singles rooms are in an outhouse and have no windows/ unsecure lock on door. I was moved instead to a small double room in the main building but warning this room really badly smelt of fumes ( either gas or paint) and gave me an awful headache. You can do better in Yangon, I don't recommend this place at all.
As noted by many others, the staff are lovely and very helpful, though many of them do struggle to communicate in English. Just about every conversation I had or witnessed was strained and difficult. Rooms are very disappointing - dark, old, poorly insulated (lots of kitchen noise from outside and creaky floors from above) and the bathrooms are absolutely shameful. Water (especially hot water) is inconsistent, but when it does eventually come on, prepare to have a bathroom full of it, as there's no separate shower and poor drainage. Breakfast is great, but other food was consistently disappointing. Meat was impossible to cut/chew, soups were bland and service was generally slow. Internet is laughable and almost never worked. Overall - best avoided. There are many better options these days in a similar price-range.…
