After my intended stay at the Emerald Hotel was cancelled at last minute due to booking system errors, the Black Pearl took me in at the last minute and provided me with a friendly, tidy and clean pace to stay with an abundance of character. The place seems to have a lot of history and charm- could easily be a...

We could tell this would have once been on par with the Hilton or Commodore back in its hey-day; but it is quite run down and more like a 3 star hotel now. Very sufficient for sleeping and showering - but don't expect a flash pristine experience. The staff weren't very friendly - but to their credit - did move...

From the moment you arrive until you leave, the friendly staff treats you just like family, and even feeling like royal family. The hotel has this old colonial style with elegance furniture and lots of great photographs of old Tongan monarchs, the main room and balcony is quiet and comfortable with a great view of the ocean. I felt completely...

A great choice for anyone visiting Tonga with lovely rooms with balconies and the friendliest staff located a short drive from the city centre. TV and roosters crowing are the only downsides but who wants to sit inside watching TV with paradise at your door.

Great accommodation. Very clean room with a sunny balcony. The owners and staff were lovely, friendly and helpful with any questions we had. Dinners were very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. Breakfast on the veranda was a great way to start the day!

I stayed here for over ten days. It was a work trip to Tonga and we needed to be based in the capital. On first glance I thought the Black Pearl needed some major attention, it was ghostly quiet but after a few days that was part of its wonderful charm. We were treated as part of the family as...

The staff were unfailingly cheerful but totally ineffective. I was sold internet time but it turned out there was no reception in my room. Then when I went to the lounge it turns out there was no service anyway bit it might be on tonight. By the third time I spoke it turned out they had been that day, needed...

We stayed here overnight before heading to Vava'u and found the place to be very nice for Tonga. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice. We got a continental breakfast as part of our room rate and for a fee, we could have them make us a hot breakfast. There is a nice outdoor patio that overlooks...

The Black Pearl Suites hotel is very clean & our room was comfortable & of a normal size hotel room, if you want a big room you have to get a bigger suite. We never had any problems with hot water & our room was attended each day with fresh towels, we asked for a kettle for our room, but...

Hotel seems like an old house that has been converted into a hotel. Rooms felt like I was staying at my great grandmother's house! old furniture, box tv, window unit AC (which we were grateful we had!). Water in shower was very, very low flow with variable temperatures (rapidly cycling between hot and cold). Had breakfast (fresh fruit, cereals, coffee)...
