I have never actually stayed here, and knowing what I do about White River and Rain Tree I never would, but I have eaten a few times at the Cafe. Breakfast is big on local food, which is tasty and inexpensive (for Honiara). The pizzas are also pretty good, and again, there is a focus on local produce. Be warned...

What a fantastic little gem, hidden near the back of Honiara! We arrived here for a week long break to explore Guadalcanal - and what a great little base it proved to be. We had booked 2 nights in Raintree B&B, based on the recommendation in Lonely Planet (this was their 'Our Pick' in the 2010 edition). The Raintree Cafe is a dump, and this finding should be regarded as separate from the observation that Honiara is a hole and that the Raintree Cafe is in a not so great part of town. I stayed at the Rain Tree B & B from 28th September until 6th October. It was a great experience, despite the well known issues at the White River market during the night. Although I wasn’t afraid for my personal security, I understand others may be frightened. And I can’t believe that a police station is only a few hundred...

Very nice cafe with great food, smoothies and fresh juices with a lovely view right over the sea. Popular among the white people in Honiara, however there are a few things you should be aware of if you stay there as a visiting tourist. The Rain Tree Bed and Breakfast is a lovely place to stay. A real hidden gem, right next to the sea and a wonderful place to eat fresh locally grown organic food while gazing out on the nearby islands.
