let me start by saying the hotel isn't awful. big rooms in a colonial style building - however, I must urge everyone to avoid this as this place is in a neighbourhood that even some of the people from bogota would avoid. The area is seedy and specially on Sundays, it is turns into a seedy flea market. One occasion, i was chased by someone who appears to be handing me something illegal. The hotel is also listed weird in Google maps and Uber and I twice was took into a different area of town. I am not sure how hotels can say 4 stars or 5 stars if location and safety isn't factored in. I definitely felt unsafe. This is also aggravated by the fact that they lock the doors and you need to buzz to get in or out - for safety purpose I suppose. But if you are waiting 2 or 5 minutes outside on a Sunday or at midnight where the homeless across the street would knock on your behalf - I definitely felt on edge. There are other reviews here that have a similar sentiment and I just want to share mine in hopes of helping someone else pick a different area.…
Quaint property in the heart of the city. Excellent location for walking and exploring the Museums/Emerald markets/restaurants. Easy access to Monserrat. The staff at Santa Lucia very friendly and accommodating. Andrea made our breakfast a pleasant start to our daily adventures.
Large room, nice bathroom. Decent and helpful staff. Was upgraded to junior suite. However, no i-Pad or minibar as promised. The breakfast was simple, but nice: juice, fresh fruits, choice of pancakes or egg and toast, and good strong coffee. No problem with bag storage. Avoided trouble by using Uber for door to door service.
A very nice hotel in the city center offering a traditional breakfast in an old building with nice renovated furniture and good wifi connection. All major attractions of the city was next to us in walking distance
Santa Lucia is located in the very heart of Bogota. Within walking distance to all main attractions. The immediate surroundings are not very nice though mainly due to a number of hoarded and vacant plots. Still, we felt safe, even returning home around 23:00. The building represents colonial style, with all the charm of periode features. Our room was very large and airy. Modern bathroom had a luxury touch of the shower massage... 😃 Breakfasts were simple and monotonous, but the quality was good. We stayed there only three nights, so no harm done. Massages - absolute masterpiece. The lady knows her stuff very well: pain and lots of gain. Bar is opened 24/7 however with rather limited assortment. The internal courtyard is a pleasant place to spend some time on reading or chatting for example. There is no lift. The place is not suitable for people with mobility impairment.…
I checked out but left my bags as I had an afternoon flight . Got to the airport my wallet with passport credit cards were missing . Got a cab back to the hotel . All I got was shrugs of shoulders and giggles from the staff .I had no money asked 5hem to pay cab and I would pay back when I could find my debit card which was hidden in my luggage .Reply not possible. No one helped me .Asked if I could stay one night free of charge . Not possible. NO MANAGER just young scuffy kids.I had to insist on the police being called .I was not even offered a drink of water .No one said sorry . They found the whole incident funny .My wallet was stolen from my suitcase in this hotel when they were suppose to be looking after my luggage . Missed my flight to Quito . Have to pay over 300 euro for a new flight . Lost tour in Equador and trip to Galapagos.Hell..and the hotel could not care less . Worse experience I have ever had in a hotel .…
Hotel Santa Lucia is located in the centre of Bogotá in Candelaria near the Gold Museum. The Santa Lucia is a nicely renovated historic building with a peaceful interior courtyard, a chapel, a bar, a small gym and a tiny sauna. The hotel is charmingly outdated, but well maintained and offers 15 spacious guest rooms. Note that in Colombia a 19% sales tax is charged upon check-out to citizens of Colombia. Foreigners on a tourist visa are exempt from this tax We arrived after an 11+ hour FRA-BOG flight. The hotel driver picked us up at the airport and we were charged COP 70m. We stayed for two nights. To avoid the street noise we chose a room at the backside of the building. At weekends in the early morning a busy flea market is set up right in front of the door. Our room had a comfortable bed, TV, desk & chair, and a separate bathroom with toilet, washbasin & shower. All was clean. Windows can de opened, have a blackout roller blind but no mosquito screens. Breakfast is simple and unimpressive, fruit salad, coffee & tea, scrambled eggs, butter & marmalade and tasteless rolls. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Hotel Santa Lucia is a good choice if you are looking for a clean, comfortable hotel in a charming 19th century setting in the centre of Bogotá.…
My husband and I travel 3-6 months a year, predominantly at 5 stars, and on arrival to this hotel in Bogota we quickly realised that this would not be our case despite the listing on Agoda. The receptionist didn't speak a lick of English, so after half an hour of using a translate app, we were checked into our suite. After heading to bed around 9:30pm, the noise outside from a bar echoed within as if it was next door, and the windows despite being closed let in cold air with no heating..it was certainly not the stay we anticipated and after trying to sleep with airplugs for 3 hours, we packed, and requested to change rooms to a lesser level with our request for a refund of the difference offered by the manager who was being contacted by whatsapp at the time. Breakfast of 3 slices of papaya, some white toast and an omelette was given with juice/coffee. We argued with the manager, and left that morning, forfeiting our 2nd night finding out how dangerous the area was for tourist. Also, there is most definitely no gym on site! …
I chose this hotel because it looked cleaner, social an brighter than other choices in the area. I was surprised to receive a msg from the hotel advising that a driver will pick me up from the airport and he will have a sign w/ my name on it. I felt safer knowing my ride is linked with the hotel. NOTE: The pickup and drop off was not included in the hotel price, and it was actually much more than what I paid for the hotel. The driver didn't speak much english, but w/ google translate and my little spanish, he was able to answer my few questions. I am so glad he took me to get food before we got to the hotel, because the area is so sketchy, there's no place nearby open and there was no way I was leaving the hotel after I got there. On arrival, we had to buzz in, the hotel is locked at all times (which is good, given the sketchy area). I was not expecting the hotel to be narrow, dark and looking a bit dated (old carpets, dated reception area). The receptionist (Hernan) was very helpful, no english at all, but google translate helped again. He carried my bags up to my 3rd floor room(no elevators). I was very surprised to see a spacious room, w/ nice bedding, wood furniture and a modern washroom (walk in shower w/ rain shower head) and toiletries. I always check for bedbugs, there wasn't any present, but 2 of my 4 pillowcases were dirty, looked like blood stains or something. The room was extremely cold (as Bogota is normally on the chilly side). Breakfast was included, made to order and delicious. Overall, I would not stay here again solo, maybe if I was w/ someone. It was very dark, lonely and sketchy…
This cute little place is halfway between a hotel and a hostel. We're an older couple and were enchanted by the central courtyard. Breakfast was great. The area isn't particularly safe after dark but we walked back down the big avenue in the evening and ducked down the side street to the hotel - well lit and enough people and cops around to give a sense of security. All coming and going is controlled by the hotel so you know there aren't randoms wandering around inside. I'd go back.
