I stayed in the Regina for three nights before starting a G Adentures tour through Colombia. So firstly the good points. You simply won't get a better location to be fair. It is literally around the corner from the Gold Museum and only a short 5 or 6 minute walk from Plaza Bolivar and the Botero Museum. If you leave the hotel going left outside the front door and left immediately when you reach the main thoroughfare Jimenez, there are loads of good bars and restaurants on the other side of the road in all the side streets there. Secondly, its very friendly and safe in the hotel. The front desk were very helpful and approachable. Thirdly, the room and bathroom were spotless and the bed was very comfortable Now a few things that were maybe not so good. It is noisy. I had a room on the second floor and could hear every word from the cafe and reception on the ground floor. Also the doors to the rooms close very loudly so if anyone has an early checkout or late check in you'll jump out of your skin in the bed! Secondly, the breakfast was grim. You have to order off a set menu so you can't have less or what you don't like and more of what you do. Overall though, the most important things...location, cleanliness and security, well it ticks those boxes.

The Hotel Regina was part of the start of my tour through Colombia. I had a room on the 4th floor, which was quite surprised was kinda large. The bed was a bit hard but otherwise comfortable. It was quiet for sleeping considering where we were in the city. The location is good for being close to Museo d'Oro and convenient for seeing the downtown area. Breakfast was tasty, and the staff were great.

This is a totally satisfactory hotel located literally a block away from The Museo del Oro en La Candelaria. I arrived late but was greeted quickly and efficient; in five minutes I was setting up my devices. The room was clean but tiny and I had to plan to find enough space to put down my few trappings. There was no heat or AC but it was not necessary as the temp was a nice 55 degrees-perfect for sleeping. The lighting was adequate but shaving would have been an adventure. The wi fi was surprisingly good; I was able to live stream a basketball game. The bedding was comfortable and there were 4 pillows on the queen size bed. The tiny bathroom featured a bar of soup and a plastic cup. A small minibar offered a few beers, sodas, and some junk food at not-inflated prices. The room was quiet and comfortable, and had I not been so jet lagged, I probably would have slept well. The staff is friendly and accommodating; not everyone speaks English, but learning a few Spanish words and phrases makes all the difference. The included breakfast is a minimalist cooked-to-order omelette or eggs, cereal, and various juices and fruits. The outstanding location makes access to the old town, major museums, many restaurants, public transport, and the two best known areas to buy emeralds. For $65, the no-frills place is perfect to explore La Candelaria.

It was not a good first impression when we arrived in the pouring rain, and the receptionist couldn't find our booking and didn't seem overly bothered about it. I had to show her confirmation on my phone for her to then look a bit harder, finally finding it but no explanation or apology. We then had to sign numerous forms, goodness knows what for, and hope they are not signed to be charged for anything ! But after the initial bad start, the rest was all good. Our Twin Room was lovely, nice and spacious and even had a mini fridge, hob and sink - like a mini kitchenette. Desk, wardrobe, loads of power sockets, and a safe as well. No ac, so the room got quite stuffy so had to keep the windows open. The shower was the best we've had in 3 weeks in Colombia, super pressure, boiling hot, and lots of room - amazing ! Very good value, and the breakfast was really good - cereal, coffee/hot chocolate, fresh juices, eggs to order, pancakes, fresh bread, cheese, ham, salad, toast etc. Very small area though with only a few tables, so it soon felt very cramped. Lovely rooftop garden, but unfortunately it rained both evenings we were there so we didn't use it. Originally built in 1921, and some of it does show its age - the lift looks like the original, really tiny, and jerks alarmingly when it first moves ! The morning receptionist spoke very good english and was really friendly and helpful, and booked us a taxi to the airport for 36,000 pesos. Very good location in La Candelaria area, so nice and easy to walk to main sights from there, and just around the corner from Museo de Oro.

It is a very small hotel, although the quality of service is good is not always everything you request. There are several reforms that must be done because maintenance problems can be seen with the naked eye, and additionally the elevator is always blocked.

A home away from home! Nothing was too much trouble and I’m very high maintenance! They adapted the menu to be gluten free and extended our check out time because I felt unwell. The shower is awesome and the rooms are big. Most of all the staff were a huge support when we had to change our flights abruptly due to a family emergency. Thank you to Gabriel and everyone at Hotel Regina!

The hotel looks different from the presentation pictures on the internet. The look is old, the bathroom is unhealthy, with moldy curtains, the sheets are blue, you do not know if they are clean or dirty, and the room is very small. It is located in the central area and the staff wants to appear welcoming. Breakfast is extremely messy. I do not recommend this place

The location of the hotel was great, close to Candelaria, Transmilenio, 7th Avenida, Museo de Oro. Had the best shower of all the hotels we stayed in. Rooms were good. They allowed us to store our luggage for free. For a hotel that services groups, they needed a bit more help....staff, though nice, were not well trained in dealing with tourists. Was not able to get good info on local restaurants, laundry services, or directions to airport. Elevator broke down several times...recommend staying on a lower floor to avoid it...though the breakfast was served rooftop....I think this will be changing. Internet was inconsistent - which, for a tourist is quite important. Also worried that in case of an emergency, we wouldn’t be able to get out! That needs to be rectified. We did have a bit of a security issue with one of our friends, but I think the hotel took care of it.

Stayed here with a group at end of tour and had booked for 2 extra nights then on my own. Initially hotel seemed very nice. Lovely design nice room. First issue was sharing with a girl i met on the tour a) bathroom door was sliding but no handle to assist closing nightmare had to agree to leave open at night otherwise would have woken each other. Sink was in bedroom and wouldnt drain- this did get fixed the next day. Lift out of order on several occasions and staff thought it amusing that we had to walk from 2nd floor to 8th floor regularly. No apologies or nitices put on lift. On the first day we got locked in the hotel as the magnetic system on main door broke and the side door wouldnt open either. Was fixed but we were all late heading out for our various activities. On the second day i xame back to find bedroom dior wide open beds stripped and joined to one as i was staying on, dirty linen on the floor and no one in sight.when i went to complain about my room being open and my stuff just there for the taking i was told to be quiet as they had gone off to another floor to get linen. But as no linen appeared??? I was very upset as the manager as well laughed when i complained- once my tour rep spoke to them they offered me a special breakfast which i declined as the point i was making was about the safety of my items. Then the door key wouldnt work and bed linen did not appear clean but manager tried to fob off as being due to the heavy traffic. At this stage i gave up. They then gave me a complimentary bag of coffee which i p ok politely declined as i dont drink it and am travelling for 10 weeks so dont want to carry it. Later that evening i discovered my travel starbucks cup missing despite all the reassurances about how safe the hotel was. I told them if it was not found i wanted a new one which to be fair to them i did get the next day. It disappoints me to write such a bad review as breakfast and the ladies who served it was lovely. The location of the hotel is excellent and the design and style of the hotel great. There needs to be a lot of customer service training done with the front of house staff and the maintenance upkeep needs to be improved. The wifi was not great either. Hopefully my experience is not the normal.
