Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

WOW, Ive never been openly ripped off like the manager stole from me here. HE took my $ for rent, then asked me to leave. The place has hit rock bottom since a change in management since I stayed there 2 years ago, filthy, drug infested and NOT SAFE.

I have been staying at north house hostel for almost a week and I was very satisfied! The hostel gave me everything that I expect from a hostel: extremely nice and caring staff, comfortable beds, quiet sleep, warm showers as well as fast internet. Also the other guests that I met in this place were really nice people from many different parts of the world, which created a good atmosphere. Walking distance to the party zone "zona rosa". The price was with around 6 € very fair. Would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone traveling to bogota!!!

I booked 3 nights and only stayed for one. The building was run down, dirty and the smell from the toilets was disgusting! The only good thing about this hostel are the helpful staff but that isn't enough for me to recommend staying in this hostel again.

It must have been renovated or come under new management since the old reviews on here - this hostel is great! It was very cheap for the dorms, and about 15 minutes walk to Zona T, which is the nicest part of Bogota. Much safer than the areas further south (don't stay in La Candelaria like we did at first - it's good to visit, but not good to stay there). The guys who work here were lovely, and let us leave our stuff for a few days when we went trekking. It has a kitchen, water filter, comfy communal areas, lockers. The beds were comfy, and plenty of room in the dorm rooms. Highly recommended.

Really wish there was a zero star rating. We had booked for 11 nights but stayed 1. Ended up costing us $75 USD as we had paid 17% deposit and in order for them not to charge to full amount I had to pay a further $20. We stayed in a private room which was filthy. Cobwebs everywhere and stained mouldy walls. The wall the bed was against was so bad we decided to rotate the bed. Stained sheets finished off the look of the place. The shower room had a lovrly aroma of sewer drains. Then there's the noise (this was the only thing we mentioned to them upon leaving as it's obvious that anyone who offers a room in this state doesn't care) which should stop at 11 went on until 12:30. We'd been travelling all day and couldn't sleep even with earplugs. A truly awful experience and really best avoided.

North House Hostel's staff were very friendly and down to earth. My brother and I arrived at the Hostel at around 12 AM after an exhausting over extended bus ride from Medellin. Thankfully they answered the door. North House is located in Zona T, a safe area with bars, restaurants and dancing clubs within walking distance. The hostel itself was clean. They have X-Box and the staff members will challenge you, which was awesome! The dorm that I stayed in was clean as well as the both the upstair bathroom and downstair bathroom. It is an average hostel with a friendly staff. I would recommend it if you are ever visiting Bogota.

Overall - A bit dingy and lacking atmosphere, but god enough to pass a night Positives - They answered the door! Spanish and English spoken well. decent bathroom shower. WiFi works very well, downstairs. Friendly enough staff. Safe area, near Zona T. Negatives - Dull, dark brown place. WiFi was dodgy in my room and 2 pcs downstairs are uselessly slow. Not a great atmosphere for the UK/US/OZ type traveller - more geared towards locals staying the week on a budget. People chatting late in the dorm as I was clearly trying to sleep. I think Bogota in general isn't quite up there with other cities yet in regards to hostels ad the backpacker scene. This hostel is indicative of that.

The staff here were very nice & also spoke English but we didn't like it here. The bleach smell was sickening but the place still felt dirty because of the dark dingy furniture. I had a cold shower. The place just didn't have a nice feel to it so we stayed out all day and moved after the first night.
