I made a reservation for 3 days, 2 persons. Second day I received an e-mail for check inn although the reservation was made for 3 days later. I tried to explain the situation using the hotel e-mail. No answer. Had to book in another hotel. Later I was charged for the full period without any explanation.
My time in Selina was pretty good! It is greatly decorated with very nice vibes. Great breakfast and great staff. I was placed on the top floor and, because it rained, the ceiling started to leak. The staff offered me to move to another room, to which I was extremely pleased. I also signed up for a therapeutic massage offered at the hostel, and it is a MUST!!! My doctor was Dr. Julio González and he was outstanding. Definitely will stay in Selina next time I’m in Bogota.
A great experience in the hostel, the food was very good and delicious. The attention of the employees very good, the cleanliness of the rooms, all tidy. The facilities very comfortable and clean, excellent service, very friendly and willing staff. Recommended to go on vacation as a couple or with the family. Nice and comfortable hostel, it is remarkable the kindness of the staff, the service always efficient and with the best attitude. The variety of breakfasts and everything fresh. The hostel has beautiful facilities. I felt welcome from the first moment. The rooms are very comfortable, the location is great, close to several tourist sites. It has wifi network. In general terms a hostel that takes care of the details. Very friendly staff is always attentive to their guests. The truth very recommended ideal location and facilities totally clean and very nice, 100% recommended, have an exceptional service, which highlighted the hospitality of all workers of the hostel.…
The hotel had leaks from the ceiling. Our room had been occupied without housekeeping. There was no free parking. The parking garage adjacent to the hotel lied to us about pricing and overcharged us by 150%. No-one was at the reception area until 10am. I will never visit again and neither should anyone else!
Selina Chapinero Bogota I Live in Bogotá, but for a personal reason I looked for a place to stay out of my house for one week, I wanted to stay in one of the Selinas on Bogotá as I've seen their decorations and some good reviews And it had good price for a standard room with private bathroom it was not that cheap, every seemed apparently awesome however it was an 8day party. So if you want to rest for a long trip this is not the place because: 1. It seems one or two of the people who are living here are the ones who have parties all day long... And it seems they pay to the guards and staff to let the stay with the party until 7am approximately ( by the way I'm writig from the hostel at 7am listening to the room party) 2. They have the rules of the hostel in every wall of the building but of course they are just decoration. 3. They promised 3 times to clean my room and never happened. 4. Basically, if you want to rest, please don't come here. I talked to the staff they first day I stayed and couldn't sleep and they say: "no worries we will call the police next time" .. And Guess.. who did a party next day and nothing happened... So disappointed of this experience I definitely won't recommend to my Foreing friends and to you if you are reading this.…
I want you to imagine that you spent 24 or 36 hours traveling by bus, plane or train, all the way to Bogota, Colombia, and then you check into one of the city's most expensive hostels... only to discover that the "hostel" is actually a concert venue with zero soundproofing between the stage and the rooms, meaning that you can hear every word the singers are singing (even with earplugs!), your furniture shakes with every beat on the drum, and your pillow vibrates with every strum of the bass guitar. Welcome to the Selina Chapinero, a hostel that offers pretty much nothing other than obscenely loud music into all hours of the night. It's bizarre that anyone would think it was a good idea to combine a place where people SLEEP (a hostel) with a place that plays LOUD music all night (a concert venue) with absolutely zero soundproofing. However, that's what happens here. You can hear the music in every room on every floor. And when the music finally stops, you can still hear all the noise from the patios where guests hang out (staff don't bother enforcing the posted closure hours) and, apparently, the roads outside. Don't worry about being too tired for any of the hostel's activities, as none are actually offered. Unlike the Selina Candelaria, which has a big board advertising the day's events, there is nothing happening here. Sometimes they advertise activities in the (useless!) app, but then they don't actually offer the activities (for example, movie nights were repeatedly advertised during my stay, but never actually organized or offered). There is a TV at reception that suggests they have some tours, but the tours aren't connected to the hostel (it's just the free walking tours operated by local companies). Their other location has a partnership with the Gringo Tuesday party night... but the Chapinero location doesn't bother. They couldn't care less about creating a social atmosphere, welcoming travelers to Bogota or even providing basic tourist information (I asked how to get from the hostel to Candelaria by transit and the receptionist didn't know!). Overall I found the staff at reception very rude. It was like they'd never stayed at a hostel before and hadn't been trained in basic customer service. It looked like they spent most of their time hanging out with locals - I'm not sure if it was their friends or locals who come to use the on-site coworking space - but in four nights I never saw them smile at a guest, make small talk, ask how someone's day was going or ask if they needed any help. Guests seemed to get in the way of their chatting and playing on their phones. Additionally, there was an ongoing domestic violence incident in the hostel during my stay, and it was not handled appropriately. Guests who verbally abuse anyone - including their own travel companions - at extreme volumes, for hours on end, need to be removed from the premises. The fact that this behavior is tolerated and ignored by reception and security staff (after it is reported) is appalling. The things that didn't suck were the design of my room (it was pretty) and the hot water in my shower. Food in the restaurant wasn't great, but the avocado toast at breakfast was okay, one of the baristas could make good coffee, and the guys who actually worked in the restaurant were friendly and had basic serving and customer service skills.…
We stayed for 1 night in one of the micro rooms. The room was adequate. The whole place is really nicely decorated, but the service in the restaurant is really, really slow and the food was pretty bad.
the rooms are big, bathroom good. a lively place at bar area. the street in front is super noisy and windows are very thin. Also they host rock-concerts on weekends and other days till late at night (!). overall good/okay value for money, but we have stayed in better Selina Hostals in SouthAmerica.
Very large and nice privet room. ... However, no aircondition, no phone, no safe box, no TV..... They cheat on breakfast price. Do not pre paid for breakfast....also ask for higher floor since it is very noisy on lower ones.. ..
First of all: I had a good time in the Selina Chapinero. All staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. My deluxe room was good. There was nothing much to complain about the facilities in general. There are however 2 issues that I would recommend this hostel to work on: 1.) The bathroom floor was full of hair. It was not that obvious / not easy to spot due to the colouring of the floor, but I am 100% sure that this bathroomfloor was not cleaned before I checked in. Not a huge issue for me, but I understand travellers who are more concerned on this. 2.) Just as some other posts here suggest: the breakfast place is totally unorganized. The staff was extremely friendly and seemed well motivated. I really cant say anything bad about them personally, but it seems they are lacking some standardized processes there. No salt, no jam, no butter (I had to ask for it both days) and the tiny slice of bread is a like a joke. I asked for additional bread on both days I stayed there. It took them 10 to 15 minutes to bring it, even the jam took ages. First day I got additional bread for free. Second day I paid for it. Its ok, but I have stayed in other Selinas in Argentina... and they were much better organized plus they served proper coffee.…
