Such a fun friendly atmosphere with Staff that Goes above and beyond in order to ensure that you have a fun, comfortable and enjoyable stay. As well they are plenty Knowledgeable of local amenities and things to do! Great comfortable beds and hot showers. I will definitely be returning on my next trip to bogata!
Recently because of covid I was stranded in Bogota, as it was my connecting flight from Mexico and couldn’t fly back to the UK. I don’t normally write reviews, but I have to this time. The Hostel was absolutely brilliant. They helped me with anything I needed. I had the warmest welcome and they really took care of me. Let me off with food bills as I had lost my bank card. Offered to pay for a taxi for me. The place was a great set up. I can’t thank these guys enough. When I go back to Columbia for a proper holiday, this is where I’ll be staying. Absolutely spot on, can’t recommend this place enough. Thank you guys!, I’m now back in the Uk safe 😄
Ended up in Bogotá after our flight to Lima got cancelled. Reserved a night at The Cranky Croc without any research. Ended up staying 4 nights and coming back a week later for another couple nights. Honestly might be the best experience I’ve had with a hostel. Clean, friendly staff, helpful staff, awesome location, skilled breakfast/lunch chef. Super reasonable pricing as well. Set the tone for our surprise trip Colombia where we ended up having an amazing couple of weeks. You truly can’t do better than this hostel
The Cranky Croc is the one place in all of Bogota that doesn't just welcome you like family; they have everything that makes travel special. You will have the best and warmest time. From the cold craft beer on draft, ping pong with friends, and hanging out by the fireplace or on the roof with the city's sickest views, there is no better place to stay when visiting this beautiful town. The location and experience of staff is numero uno, and this place has it in spades. I can't wait to return.
Had a problem of somebody nicking $2500 from my credit card in Costa Rica, unresolved through a traverse of Panama. Uncomfortable backpacking, much as I have loved Panama a couple of times. Took a girl in Cranky Croc to help me; then all was cool to enjoy Colombia. .Apart from that, it's a cool hostel, in a cool part of town. Go to the Gold Museum, just a stroll. Never got that much; but, oh boys & girls I got plenty golden smiles in Colombia, the two months that followed. Thank you for that start, Cranky Crocs.
This is a great hostel. We were travelling as a family (two parents + 18 & 20 year old). We had two private rooms. The hostel is in a great location. We did the Bogota Bike Tour (organised through the hostel), the free graffiti tour, and walked up the Monserrate, all which are a short walk from the hostel. Breakfast is good, staff are helpful, and the common room and guests were great. Sleeping areas are very quiet. We arrived into Bogota around midnight, after a long trip from Australia, so used the Cranky Croc airport shuttle, which was very handy. Extra tip - we got lucky in that there was a soccer game on when in Bogota, which the hostel organised a trip to see. If you get the chance - go. It was crazy.
Hostels can be hit or miss but this one’s a hit. Run by Natalia (Colombian) and her husband Andy (Aussie) who have done a great job with this business. Quiet, great location (walking distance to many of the major attractions), exceptionally clean, great staff and lots of activities that you can arrange from the hostel. 24 hour reception with very secure entry so we never felt there were issues with leaving things in our room. Good common areas to catch up with other travelers. Brekky is very good and affordable and the coffee was excellent.
This has to be one of the best hostels worldwide. Great central location. Excellent accommodation (we had our own double room). Clean. Excellent and friendly staff. Lots of activities. Accommodation areas in a quiet zone. Not too big. Would we stay again? Yes. We already went back a couple of nights later. Well done to the Cranky Croc team.
We stayed at the Cranky croc from Sunday to Monday in a triple room with private bathroom. The room was nice, spaceous and clean. The beds were pretty hard for our taste and too short for me (I'm 1.93m tall). In the hostel there's a common area where you can get drinks and food. So it is actually a pretty nice place. We went to bed on Sunday around 10 p.m. But during the night it became really noisy in the common area. People were talking very loud and they decided to put on some music in the middle of the night. This lasted till 3 a.m. It didn't seem there was anyone of the hostel management to tell them tot be more quiet. As our most important criterium for a room is that we have a good night sleep, we didn't score the Cranky croc very high.
The Cranky Croc is a great choice for anyone visiting Bogota who wants hotel style rooms at hostel prices. We are much older than the average guests but feel at home in this clean quiet but sociable hostel shih has lots of help and tour options for travellers right on site.
