I stayed one night at Republica Hostel with a group of friends. The room was clean and spacious and it had a big window. Staff was friendly and helpful. The area has fantastic dinner spots all around.
This wasn't the fanciest hostel I stayed at during my trip to Colombia, but it was my favorite. I chose it primarily for its location, and I wasn't disappointed. Although it's a fair distance from the city's main tourist zone, it's near public transportation, safe, and centrally located to places I wanted to see both north and south. There are literally dozens of restaurants within a five-minute walk, and a large shopping mall not much further away than that. The hostel is clean, and the shared rooms offer "pod-style" curtained beds with the head away from the floor area. The two four-bed rooms I stayed in were a bit cramped, but that didn't bother me, because there's little reason to spend time in the room except when sleeping. And I slept well, even though most days I had at least one "roommate" check out early. The breakfasts (I chose yogurt with granola every morning) were a plus. What made this hostel my favorite were the people. The hostel is set up in a way that it's very easy to meet people with seating areas both indoors and out. This is definitely not a party hostel, but it is social. During my stay, most people staying here were Europeans in their 20s, but I'm neither young nor European and felt that I fit in just fine. I definitely stay here again if I were returning to Bogotá.…
Hi guys, what's up? I want to share some nice facts about Republica Hostel in Chapinero, Bogotá! After I checked in I met Dharma from Israël behind the bar. This guy is amazing with languages! Very social and funny! We played a few games and he knew alot about the area. If I was a hostel owner I would make him my GM for sure! I like flexible and easy going people who make you feel appreciated. 5 stars for this guy! 👏 The double bed was only 33K a night. That's less that 10€ a night. Wauw! The bed was very comfortable. Price is breakfast included and was more than enough. I had serial with 2 types of fruits and tea. Where others had pancakes. I also did my laundry. That was 10K a KG and was a little bit expensive but was done very fast. Maybe fold my laundry would have been nice. Who knows maybe next time! The Wi-Fi was OK when it worked. During my stay I met 4 wonderful Dutchies and other international travelers plus a german shepard! 🐶 I defenitly come back to this place when I'm in freezing Bogotá. I give 4 stars because there is always room for improvement! 😉…
Only stayed a couple days but were very impressed with the staff. Fun event calendar with games/activities every night of the week and cozy atmosphere makes it easy to stay in and talk with the staff and other travelers.
The prive room on the groundfloor is small but clean, you do need earpluggs as it’s next to the (lovely) patio where breakfast is served. I had a very good sleep though. The staff is super friendly and helpfull and present 24hrs. It’s located in Chapinero which is about 5 km from the old center (la Candelaria) so you will need to take an Uber as walking is not recommended as you pass some dodgy areas. Recommended if you don’t mind the distance to the historical center.
The best place to stay in Bogota for a couple of nights or more! The staff is super efficient and kind, the beds are really comfortable, the manager Alvaro is the best!!!!! A beautiful place! I recommend it very much!
Nice patio to hangout or to have breakfast. Friendly staff. Safe neighborhood with some restaurants. Comfortable, warm bed closed off of the noise. The hostel also has a bar so you can have a drink on the patio. Towels were not included with the room. The sheets were not very clean, bit of a bummer. The showers are in the bathroom, across from the toilets. Sounds logical But it was a challenge to get dressed afterwards. The staff is friendly but doesnt give a lot of information if you ask. You have 2 options for breakfast, it's basic and not really much.
Excellent hostel. Very clean and modern bedrooms. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The hostel is located in a very safe and lively area, there are lots of bars and restaurants nearby and you can walk in the area in the evening without any problem. You will need to take a Uber to visit La Candelaria and it takes c.30-40min with Uber to get there (the city is very congested by all the buses and cars) but Uber is super cheap. 30min of Uber will costs you 5 euros. There is also a supermarket and an ATM located 5min walk from the hostel. If you are travelling alone, the hostel is great to meet other travellers. They organise regularly some events in the evening for people to connect (BBQ, drinks, salsa tutorial). Once thing to note: bring a padlock with you. There is no safe in the bedrooms only lockers. Enjoy Bogota. It is a great city!…
We spend the last two nights here. We liked it a lot and met a lot of people we hope to meet again during our trip. The staff will help you with anything you need. Their English is very good. Fine (but small) breakfast. Nice neighborhood.
