I've been on a short stay in La Paz to check in for the Onkel Inn. As I also booked a trip with hostelling international I thought it would be the best option to book the hostel as well. Before starting my trip, I've been in two other backpacker hostels in La Paz and I've to say that in any...

The single (pod) room I had was small and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. The room had VERY poor ventilation and the entire hostel cube was VERY very warm. I was suffering from pretty bad altitude sickness and dehydration (had an overnight layover before a 5am check-in) and the heat made it impossible to sleep (I had to...

We stayed 5 nights at the Onkel Inn. The location is perfect 10 a minutes walk to the historic center and 15 minutes to the Sopocachi neighbourhood. For the price (we are in the capital, the capitals are always a bit more expensive) you get a great location, a nice breakfast and a quiet night and good sleep! We recommend...

The bedsheets looked dirty and I found a lot of foreign hairs in my bed. When we told the service employe that the toilet paper ran out she told us to use the other bathroom. Things for the breakfast often were gone or refilled very late. The sign with "Bar and Happy Hour" was outdated. The staff knew nothing about...

The bedrooms are clean and light. The prices are very good for people with a smaller travelling budget. Breakfast is included and the service is good. In this hostal you live very central and everything can be reached by foot. You should try the red cap walking tours!

This is a pretty low key hostel, and there is not much 'happening' in terms of social activity. It is a good place to relax and utilize as a pass-through hostel whilst going on large excursions. Wi-Fi is pretty good, and it is quiet, so good for detox.

We stayed here 12 hours as we only needed a place to sleep. It was in the back of what seemed like a small indoor mall which seemed strange but once we got to the hostel itself we were quite content. It was a cold night but there were plenty of blankets. Good wifi. Lots of young travelers who were...

Not sure how this place made it into lonely planet. See the pros and cons below and decide for yourself. Pros. -This is a really quiet hostel if that's what your going for so you can get a good night's sleep. - there is a a good breakfast provided albeit only from 7 - 10am and most of the food...

The hostel is with a boring breakfast, that only lasts for max 2 hours. It is recommended that you buy some extra eggs or fruits from the local market for subsidiary. The beds are not all equally good, some are good and hard, and some are like holes you lay down in. The WiFi is good in the hotspots. They...

I have stayed at Onkel inn at several occasions during my studies and travels in Bolivia, mayby in total 3 weeks. The main draw of this hostel is its quietness, something that is very hard to find in La Paz with all its trafic. I have sleeping problems and wake up very easily and because of that I stayed at...

“The Double Private room with shared bathroom is not a private room. It is a loft area in the 8 bed dorm and simply has a shutter to pull over to separate it. You have to go up a ladder to access it and there is very little space in it.”
