We arrived at 11.30pm. I suggest if you are arriving after dark especially to have the Hotel pick you up from the airport. At night the Hotel would be hard to find on your own. We walked through the door from the alley and could not believe how beautiful the hotel was. Our room the Narinj Room. The room was...

The Old Vine was the easiest of all the Syrian hotels I contacted to book from the UK, with prompt responses to emails and phone calls. We stayed 3 nights and were sorry to leave. Being a small hotel, there were no huge coach tours to contend with and the DIY tea and coffee service was appreciated when taking time...

From the reviews, I had high expectations of the Old Vine but on arrival was slightly disappointed as it was a bit on the shabby side and could have done with some redecoration (peeling paintwork and old carpets). This might be ok if the price were lower but I thought it was quite expensive for what it was. On the...

The Old Vine hotel is just wonderful. Each room is designed in a traditional and yet smart way. Very elegant. Nice bathrooms. The beds heavenly. The courtyard is a tranquil haven. The busy market is just a few meters away. It feels indeed relaxing to step into the hotel from the crowded old city. In other words; the location could not...

I was in one of two single rooms. My rooftop room was perfectly located. A narrow staircase leads to a rooftop terrace with an amazing view of the old city. The room occupies a small building that could well once have been a large shed for the roof garden! However, it wassecure, comfortable, beautifully decorated, large enough and had impressive TV...

I’m sorry that I can’t recommend this beautiful hotel. It is wonderfully restored and each room is more beautiful than the next but the sewer smell was extremely unpleasant. At best it was whiffy but at times we felt ill from it and had to go out. The ancient sewers of the old city just cannot cope although the hotels...

The Old Vine is a wonderful hotel. The rooms are large and beautiful, each one individually decorated. You really feel that you are in Damascus. The hotel is in the middle of everything, only a few meters away from the iranian and the big mosque, and the souk. it is quiet and indeed good for the soul. The staff is...
