Amazing Hotel! Incredible location, only 8 minutes Walking to the entrance to the Old City. All the staff is very friendly and helpful, the hotel infrastructure is very good and the breakfast is in my favorite list! Very close to the hotel you have the Mamilla Street Shopping that can be helpful if you need to buy something urgent!
The best service given in all areas the reception in which stephan received us and guide us, the trainer in the gym who gave instractions and explanations , the personals whom were helpful and smiling , the restaurant which was taken care by people with nice and warm attitude. the hotel is very very clean and shine. the location is great near the old city and the city center.
We loved our 3 nights at the Mamilla Hotel. The twin bedded room was very spacious and the bathroom is amazing with a large tub and walk-in shower. Make sure you visit the winery for some wine tasting. The breakfast is incredible too.
The Mamilla Hotel is a really special hotel, sitting almost opposite the old city. It combines a modern classy vibe together with the feel of the old city. We only stayed in the larger rooms (executive and then suite) and they are very large, modern and comfortable (ironically, we actually preferred the executive to the suite, as it felt more spacious without the middle wall, but the suite can easily become a one bedroom apartment, so it depends on your choice). The hotel has access to a full gym, which is pretty incredible and the inside pool area is also nice. The breakfast buffet was great and varied and had that classic Israeli style of a wide spread of food types and options to mix and match. The staff were exceptional - v customer service oriented - and a special shout-to Mohammed (duty manager I think) who got us out of a pickle when the original room we were staying in turned out to be a bit noisy, and more specifically, to Stephane, who wa a constant source of advice, and most especially, helped us find the nearby fountain where my wife and I first met 30 years ago!!!!! (that's pretty cool).…
let's start by the fact that we reserved for 2 adults and 1 child (through American Express Platinum) and when we arrived the child was not in the reservation. We had to pay 150% extra just for an "upgrade". which by the way we where supposed to receive for AE services but funny enough they where all out of that upgrade, but they did have the higher upgrade. Also, FOOD IS TERRIBLE! they charge you over $130 p/p for dinner when there is not even a decent piece of meat. and a line so long for the buffet we felt in the worst cruise!!! Overall I will NEVER go back nor recommend this hotel to anyone.
We stayed at the Mamilla for two nights just after the new year - for context I spent over 100 nights in premium hotels last year, and haven’t felt like I've needed to write a hotel review in years, however I wanted to share our experience to help inform future travellers in this case. We primarily chose to stay at the Mamilla based on the location and reputation of the hotel - it’s known as the best in the city and given the cost we had high expectations. There is no doubt that the location at the gates of the Old City is unbeatable and the physical hotel itself is impressive, but, we came away with the impression that the hotel knows this too and therefore chooses not to try too hard to deliver in other areas. We also had one particularly bad experience with a tour arranged through the concierge that was frankly unforgivable, and would advise that any travellers that do choose the Mamilla avoid booking guided trips through the concierge at all costs (see ’The ugly' below). The good: Modern and impressive public spaces, well appointed guest rooms (including the slightly gimmicky but cool transparent / opaque glass bathroom that changes with the flick of a switch), beautiful bathrooms with large comfortable bath, outstanding location for visiting the Old City (you can also very easily take the new metro/tram to Yad Vashem and the main markets). The bad: General lack of care, personalisation of service and attention to detail for the room rate (e.g. check-in was scripted and formulaic, concierge came across as arrogant and disinterested, security staff were lax and did nothing to verify if you were a guest beyond asking); Breakfast options very limited (large buffet space but lack of variety, poor egg selection, poor yoghurts/dairy or other protein options compared to other premium hotels in Israel let alone other high end hotels many guests here will be used to); Gym is open to the public and very crowded. Both the gym and pool have limited hours compared to a 24 hour gym set up at most other top hotels. The ugly: We arranged a half-day tour to Bethlehem with the concierge where a local driver picked us up and arranged a local guide - this cost 300 USD so this was not at all cheap, however we were prepared to accept this on the hotel’s recommendation and with the expectation that we would have a reliable, comfortable and safe experience booked via the Mamilla. Unfortunately, it was nothing like this at all. A red flag should have been the arrogance and disinterestedness of the concierge, though we did appreciate his ability to plan something at short notice. Our driver met us on time. He was knowledgeable and made attempts to tell us about landmarks even though not being a professional guide, which we did appreciate. He also connected us with an excellent guide in Bethlehem who could not have been a more informative, helpful and genuine individual - sadly I suspect this guide probably received the smallest cut of the price we paid. Unfortunately after the guided portion of the tour things went quickly downhill, starting with the driver pulling up to an unmarked garage on the roadside during the onward trip (to the Shepherds Field). The driver gave no explanation and left the vehicle for over 15 minutes while it appeared some alteration was made to our vehicle while we sat in it, which felt sketchy at best and at worst made us feel incredibly unsafe in a territory without the best reputation for a stable security situation. Next, again before we were supposed to visit the Shepherds Field, our driver drove us into an unmarked, gated and walled compound in which there was a sole building that turned out to be a very modern shop. The compound gate closed behind us as we entered. We immediately told the driver that we did not want to go shopping and that he should continue the tour. It was at this point that he lied to us by (falsely) telling us our next destination wasn’t open yet and then ordered us to go into the shop and “buy things”. We felt trapped and walked into the store. It was completely empty, brightly lit, filled with factory-made tourist souvenirs. A manager met us at the door, tried to sell us jewellery, encouraged us to pay in US dollars, and didn’t leave us alone for the entire time we were there. She followed us in circles around the shop, even when we thanked her and asked to browse in private. Our driver had disappeared, leaving us alone with a woman who saw us as her next big payday, and we absolutely felt obliged to not only buy something but to buy something very expensive. As soon as it became clear that we only wanted to buy something of moderate value (and only because we felt forced and wanted to leave), she became instantly hostile and argued with us all throughout the checkout process - especially for wanting to pay in local cash instead of giving her our credit card. When we were finally able to leave (our driver miraculously re-appeared after we paid) we felt so uncomfortable that we felt like we wanted to go immediately back to the safety of the hotel, and we did not get to experience the rest of the tour we paid for. It sounds almost fantastical that a trip arranged through the concierge of the Mamilla would leave us effectively held hostage, with our freedom of movement restricted in a compound until we bought something from the literal definition of a tourist trap, but here we are. The services of a premium hotel concierge should protect their guests from being ripped off and being treated like pawns in a machine, however it seemed like the hotel actually had a very good relationship with this rogue driver which is extremely unfortunate. We raised the issue with the Director of Guest Relations, Rachel, during our stay who offered an apology but no resolution to the specific experience we had or the money we lost from this shocking experience. My trust in this hotel and their owners, the Arlov Group, has been completely destroyed by this experience and I would question staying at any of their properties again. Given there are other well rated luxury hotels in the area the overall careless attitude towards service and detail at this hotel was a shame, and seems short-sighted. Based on our experience we will try another hotel in the area in future (note that the David Citadel next door also has the same owners), and as of now couldn’t in good faith recommend the Mamilla to friends or colleagues because of the overall disappointing experience and lack of any attempt at service recovery. The hotel has my details and is welcome to reach out if they wish to discuss this further. …
Mamilla hotel provides a comfortable experience to enjoy Jerusalem, yet Mamilla misses the mark on key details for a five star experience. The hotel breakfast is splendid: from omelets to smoked salmon to a wide pastry selection, I was satisfied every morning before heading out on my adventures. The room service was also adequate: my family enjoyed our salads and pastas. However, the interior design of the rooms was overwhelming: I believe the idea was a modern, minimalist room, yet the room was hard to maneuver and was uncomfortable. The shower had no door causing the water to flood the bathroom floor. Further, every room seems to be different as my family members in a adjacent room reported they had no door to their toilet. Given the price of the stay, I was expecting more complimentary items in the room. However, the beds were comfortable and I got a solid night’s rest. Guest services were also great as the workers were very helpful and accommodating. I wish the lobby was more accessible as it only has one bathroom which was hard for my elderly family member to access. The gym area was also hard and confusing to access although the workout equipment was excellent. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here but I did feel Mamilla was missing key elements especially for its price.…
Wedding in mamila ! All was extremely well organize ! All our request were respected. The food and the service was amazing ! Everybody was nice , helpful and friendly. Thank you for all, for your friendliness and professionalism. Our wedding, chabat hatan, was unforgetabble thanks to you !
For such an expensive hotel, there is absolutely zero sound proofing. Rooms are tiny. When the person next door or upstairs flushes their toilet , turns on their tap or has a conversation, you can hear it. Every person who walks down the hall, you can hear every word of their conversation. It is terrible for a 5 star hotel. Also went to the restaurant at the hotel. Waited 15 minutes for someone to even come and speak to me and then they couldn’t fit me in as a single person. Told me to get room service. Did that. Took over one hour to arrive and 2 out of 3 things were wrong. It just feels like they are not a we’ll establish hotel and definitely not up to the standard of other 5 star hotels.
Hotel is modern and with good design but in my opinion not worth the price. The staff is rude and unwelcoming, the doorman treats you like trash until they realize you are a guest. There are better options available in Jerusalem. I wont be coming back.
