Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was stunned by the beauty of this hotel and the view of the red see . I am a traveler and visited many hotels around the world, that one is one of the top by far. The food, the service, the big rooms. Everything was perfect. The team was going out of their way to make sure we are happy. For sure coming back.

Absolutely nothing like the website. Dirty and run down. There is rubbish blowing around the whole hotel, even by the pool (where nobody collects used towels or trash). Food is bad. Pools are freezing. The golf carts up and down are unreliable, nonexistent at night.

Yet another amazing experience at the most beautiful resort in the Middle East! We re returning guests, and just when we thought it couldn't get any better, we had an even more amazing time. From the personable, professional staff, to the wonderful Manager Avi, who does everything to make his guests feel welcome and satisfied, to the beautiful room, which was clean and welcoming, to the absolutely gorgeous amenities and facilities. The pools are spectacular, and the lounge on the top of the mountain is breathtaking. There is food and drinks that are always replenished. The staff are super friendly. And the views want to make you stay there forever! This is truly a 6 star hotel, and doesn't compare to any other hotel in Israel. We already booked our next vacation. We are looking forward to our superb breakfast by the pool, our tuk tuk rides, our interactions with the staff, and the most relaxing, luxurious vacation! highly recommend!

We went to Shangri La with my daughter 2 months ago... We had such a great experience that I had to go back with my wife and the rest of the family. We went back last week Avi Cohen, the Director of the hotel is such a fantastic person. He is doing everything and anything to make sure guests are spending a fantastic time. You can see him in the lobby, in the restaudrant, outside,.... everywhere... to make sure his hotel is properly run Eilat was full. the hotel was full. Still each of the guest felt special. The way the hotel is setup, you don't feel when it is crowded The Lounge with its fantastic view is incredible. The pool on the top of the mountain is great and quiet We were in a Galleria room. It is very comfortable and very well designed for a family. Kids enjoyed to be on the galleria The Staff is looking for each and every requests to make the guests happy Thank you to all of you for this fantastic stay We will be back again, I am sure

My wife and I just had a wonderful time at the Royal Shangri-la. With well-decorated, clean and spacious room (including a bonus ocean-view), our stay here exceeded all expectations. The variety of fresh food options, both in breakfast and in dinner, along with the beautiful view of the Red Sea and Akaba mountains reflected from the quite hotel pool, made it unnecessary to leave the hotel throughout the weekend. Staff was welcoming, kind and helpful. We have had a wonderful time at the Royal Shangri-la and we will definitely return in the future!

Quick disclaimer before the review: this was post covid and the industry is slowly recovering, so this review is in fact a 3 star but I added one because of the circumstances. The good: You will not find a better hotel in Eilat in terms of location. I come here often and I hate the concrete hotels. This hotel is mostly wood and secluded. It also has the best view in Eilat (the lounge). Its fairly quiet and has a resort feel to it, with Golf caddies picking you up where you want to go and lots of nature. There are also about 5 pools, so you are free to pick. Rooms are good, with many having extra bed on a second floor, so its great if you have kids. TV is also really big. Rooms have what you need and are fairly well designed...but... The bad: This hotel has so much potential, but it feels completely neglected. In rooms you will find holes, paint spots, some rust. Throughout the resort you will see random chairs and piles of garbage that have not been cleaned for a while. It is such a shame because these things are so easily dealt with, yet it seems it is not a priority for them. The food also has great potential, with the buffet having absolutely what you can wish for, like many breads, lots of hot dishes, a ton of salads...but its tastes so bad. I also noticed many of the items are simply frozen packaged foods I buy for the kids when there is no food at home. We had dinner and there was a bbq stand, but the person cooking clearly had 0 experience as the meat was insanely salty and dry. I also noticed they serve veggies from the day before that were just refrigerated. So the eating spot is good, variety is good, buffet layout is well thought, but the food real bad. Same for breakfast. The service is...well, as per any Israeli hotel, terrible. People are nice, but they are so clueless. No one will remove your plate and nobody will ever ask you how it is going. There is 0 thought for "service". You are pretty much on your own. The ugly: As per their neglect, a lamp fell on my kids head from the ceiling and I got locked in my room for 30 minutes because attending to the locks is not a priority to them. They came quickly but my kids had to sleep and I had a dude in the room for 45 minutes. In conclusion: with a little effort, this place can be so much better, improve the service, the food recipes/quality, do the bare minimum of maintenance and this can be a unique experience in Eilat. Our stay was great, I will come back with the kids, but I have no expectations in terms if improvements as I know these people don't really care.

I have been there with my family during Dec2020 for 4 nights. We took a suite and it was wonderful. The atmosphere, the location, the food, the facilities and mainly the staff were remarkable. It was walk away distance to the Red Sea Underwater Observatory...which is a MUST visit site. In the early mornings, when it is quiet, sometimes an Israel Ibex comes down from the mountains to the hotel area... The sunrise is great...and romantic. We are 5 members of the family, my wife and 3 grownup children enjoyed it very much and we will come back again soon.

We spent 3 days in this hotel. Although the location is beautiful the rooms are very dirty and full of dust. We had pointed out the dust issue every day to the staff and after the staff promised to clean, the exact same dust lay there (see photos). This was a terrible stay for us to sleep in such a dusty room and ruined our experience completely. It is a pity, if the staff would’ve seriously addressed our complaint the experience would be different.

Amazing hotel! Most beautiful room and view. Stayed in a villa with my boyfriend for our anniversary. Staff were really friendly and very accommodating. Didn’t expect to get unlimited alcohol and all an day available lounge. Really great experience, they even allowed us to do a late check out free of charge as we had a later flight. Will definitely be back!!
