On arrival the friendly and welcoming staff checked we were ok with our booking of an economic double room, warning us it was very small, we said it would be fine. He wasn't wrong, the room was small and didn't have a window. It was basic but comfortable and provided all we needed. By the end of our week's stay...

If you're looking for a 5-Star hotel, this is not your place. If you're even looking for a 3-Star place to lay your head, this might be pushing it. But... we were super spoiled for our first 3 nights in Istanbul, and we needed a cheaper place to sleep and store our stuff during the day... and this place fit...

My 1st choice of hotel was booked, so they recommended the Cem Sultan Hotel. I took a chance, and walked the 5 minutes to visit hotel. Pleasantly surprised. For the ammenities, the hotel was overpriced (50 Euro). However, the price included taxes, buffet breakfast and wi-fi. Some rooms have sea view. Rooms are small, yet clean. The hotel is very...

Daughter and I stayed 3 nights, Nov. 2009 and found all quite suitable, comfortable and clean. We both have traveled extensively and would have no qualms about moving to another location if this did not meet expectations. GREAT location, Nice staff.

The location is really good but with the same price (50 EUR) you can go to a better hotel in the area. I don´t think is worth it more than 30 EUR. It was a total rip.off.

Disgusting attiude of owner and staff. Did our laundry, caused over 50Euros of damage and refused compensation, despite repeated promises to pay. Wouldn't stay there again if the rooms were free. Undoubtedly the worst service experienced in Turkey

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
