This clean, well-appointed, and well-run hotel made my stay in Istanbul . I stayed three nights with my brother in a twin room, and after leaving Istanbul for Cappadocia and Ephesus, came back as a solo act for four more nights. It's in a good location behind the Blue Mosque, and while the call to prayer is rather loud every...

Perfect decor, perfect setting, great access to sights and transportation. The staff are wonderful, like visiting family only better! They helped us with transportation and figuring out how to get another bed in our room for our son. The view from the terrace is fantastic. Be sure to keep your windows closed at night or you will be blasted by...

For someone who had not been to Istanbul in forty years, Sultan Hill was fantastic. My room was spotless, the night view from the roof top terrace incredible, and the help provided by the front desk people was beyond belief.

I stayed at this hotel for three nights and recommend it highly. All the staff was very helpful, going out of their way to make my stay as carefree as possible. Although nothing fancy, everything was spotless and more than worth the price. I met some other travelers at a cooking class nearby, and they told me about their ‘very...

My husband & 2 friends stayed here for 2 nights. The rooms were clean with nice furnishings and a good bathroom/shower. Favorite feature was the rooftop patio. The hotel sells drinks in the lobby (beer included) and we spent the evenings watching the sunset, the Blue Mosque, and the water after days of walking the city. Breakfast in the downstairs...

After scouring through a zillion TA reviews for Istanbul hotels, we settled on the Hotel Sultan Hill in Sultanahmet. First of all, thanks to TA's contributors for hitting the nail on the head: rooms were great, staff super helpful, to-die-for views on the rooftop terrace and the location - 100 metres from the Blue Mosque - couldn't be beat. If...

What more could you ask for!? We found this hotel in Rick Steves' Istanbul Guidebook and received a 15% discount for showing the book at check-in. We liked our room though small it was clean and cozy with dark wood furniture and double bed with fluffy, white duvet. We stayed a total of 7 nights and found this location to...

This hotel was recommended by Rick Steves' Istanbul, and rightly so. This remodeled hotel is squeaky clean and comfortable. We were offered a 'family room' while negotiating our rooms online. This is a perfect arrangement for nearly any age family as it consists of two adjoining rooms with a shared small foyer. The foyer has its own key so we...

The friendliness, cleanliness, and price of this quaint newly remodeled hotel is superlative. My every need have been met from carrying up my suitcase the three flights of stairs, to sharing the receptionist's computer, to recommending how to bargain with the locals, and running up to help me fix the hot water where hot and cold were reversed. I did...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
