I stayed for 3 nights at the Marmara Guesthouse and found everything according to my expectations. The room was extremely clean and comfortable. Amenities were above my expectations. The breakfast was very elaborate and delicious. Most importantly, the staff was extremely friendly and co-operative. Yagmur and Fadi were very helpful and pleasant! Highly recommended overall.

If you're not looking for hotels and chains, this is the place to go. The rooms are comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and clean. The AC is good for the hot humid days. The receptionists are super nice and very helpful in guiding you where to go, currency, transportation, mostly answer to the needs of the average tourist. . The...

We actually arrived at the Marmara Guesthouse the night of a attempted coup in Turkey. I can say that during our entire stay we felt safe and comfortable at the Marmara guesthouse. They were very helpful in helping us navigate the city, sights to see, and organizing any tours we requested. The staff was always very helpful, friendly, and warm....

Staying at the Marmara guest house was the best decision we made in Istanbul. The accommodations and service made our trip stress free. Our stay at Marmara Guesthouse exceeded all our expectations. Amazing service and a high level of professionalism helped us have a smooth experience throughout the entire trip, but the hospitality we received from the moment of arrival until the end truly touched our hearts causing us to want to return as soon as we have the opportunity and recommend this...

Nice stay at spotless Marmara Guesthouse. Staff was always prompt and helpful. Breakfast sufficient, a bit on a sweet side. Used their shuttle service, an exellent time saver. Spotty wifi from time to time. Middle of very touristic area, only touristic restaurants, souvenir shops, hotels, no local housing neither life around...

This is a family run hotel. They are truly lovely people, kind, helpful, and always willing to take time to talk or help you find the best place to fit your adventure. They are located with walking distance of Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. Also walking distance to public transport to take you anywhere.

Based on reviews on TripAdvisor, we arranged a stay at the Marmara Guesthouse. They provided private pickup and delivery at/to the two airports. It's in a great location in a quiet part of the old city only a 5-minute walk to the Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the tram line. We had a spacious, comfortable room with all the...

We recommend Marmara Guesthouse when staying in Istanbul. We stayed there 6 nights and didn't want to leave. The location in Sultanahmet is convenient to attractions and restaurants. Our room was quiet. The staircase was steep and narrow and our room was small but don't let that deter you. The breakfast was excellent with a large selection, plus homemade jams,...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
