The location is great: close to the historical sites and yet quiet. Rooms are nicely furnished and clean, bathrooms impeccable. The terrace on the top offers a stunning view over the Bosphorus. Breakfast is great too. The staff is very nice, polite and helpful. I strongly recommend Marmara Guesthouse to anyone planning to visit Istanbul.

The rooms have really nice Turkish interior, the roof top terrace views are amazing and the breakfast buffet has everything and its all delicious. Just a quick walk to Aya Sophia and the Blue Mosque the location is great but it is also in a quiet street so isn't noisy. The wifi is good.

We were traveling through Istanbul and decided to spend several days exploring the city. There are a lot of places to stay in Istanbul but the main reason we choose Marmara guesthouse is for the service we received from Yagmur/Sadi prior to our trip. We got very quick responses to our questions and concerns. The main one was that we...

Marmara guesthouse provides pretty basic facilities. Clean rooms with comfortable beds, good storage space and a small mini-fridge with very reasonable prices should you raid it. Every morning you'll be treated to a great breakfast with a bevy of fruits, baked goods, jams and jellies amongst other things. The hotel is in a great location with a nice commercial strip...

We were due to arrive in Istanbul and stay here the night after the coup. Our flight was diverted and Marmara Guesthouse allowed us to cancel our non-refundable reservations at the last moment for no fee. So when we flew home several weeks later and had a night in Istanbul, they were our first choice for a place to stay....

What a great place to stay in Istanbul. Marmara Guesthouse was more than I expected. If you are traveling on your own request room 102. (The bed is big enough for two people but is quite small). The place was clean, the staff friendly and very helpful, the breakfast was good, air conditioning worked well and the view from the...

Marmara guesthouse was a really great place to stay. We initially just booked for the beginning of our trip (one night). After exploring the rest of Turkey and returning to Istanbul, the accommodation we arranged for the end of our trip did not work out and we had to find a new place at short notice. We decided to call...

Marmara guesthouse is situated in the very heart of sultanahmet, it's next to the most important centers of culture interest (i.e. Hagia sophia, topkapi palace and blu mosque). I found this appreciable hostel thanks to lonely planet and its wise advices. Marmara guesthouse is a bargain in terms of location and price which includes homemade breakfast! Rooms ste a little...

Amazing location and great service. The breakfast buffet with a lot of Turkish delicacies was delicious and the view from terrace beautiful. Clean rooms and friendly staff. We only stayed for one night but we totally recommend it!

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
