We spent weeks before our trip to Istanbul trying to find a decent place to stay in Sultahahmet and after reading lots of good reviews on Trip Adviser Ottoman Imperial was the one that we decided to with. Perfect location, right behind the Hagia Sofia, very close to all the historical sites, good restaurants and tram line, that you can...

Excellent little boutique hotel right behind Hajia Sophia. Walk to the Blue Mosque, Hajia Sofia the Grand Bazaar and the Topkapi Palace. one block from the tram line. Excellent restaurants within a short walk. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Full breakfast included. Reasonably priced and beautifully decorated. Would return in a heartbeat.

We stayed 2 nights at the Ottoman Hotel Imperial in Istanbul after a week long cruise. Having never been to Istanbul before we chose this hotel from Trip Advisor recommendations and were very happy with everything about the choice. Our group had rooms just off of the garden that were clean, large with nice bathrooms, good showers, flat screen televisions...

We had chosen this hotel after reading some of th reviews on this site. The location of the hotel is great as all the sites are within walking distance, however, the hotel stay as such did not offer much. The staff was pleasant but not very helpful. Rooms are too small and bathrooms even smaller Moreover, the room we were...

I highly recommend this hotel. The location is unbeatable, as other reviewers have stated. 3 of the most important tourist sights in Istanbul are within 3-5 minutes walk. The staff is extremely friendly and warm and make you feel at home, especially Merie and Erhan (sorry if misspelled) Breakfast is very enjoyable and there is free Internet access via a...

The location can't be beat. You'll be close (walking distance) to many of the major sights. The tram line is also within walking distance. Rooms are clean and nicely furnished. The breakfast spread was good. The bed was comfortable. The walls do seem to transmit sounds through though it didn't bother us. Istanbul is an amazing city and you are...

If you want to visit the old part of Istanbul this is the hotel to stay at. Situated on a 'quiet' road [and there are not many of these in Istanblul] near to the Topkapi Museum and the Blue Mosque, it is the ideal location for a sight seeing visit, and the inner courtyard a perfect location to sit in...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
