A lovely small hotel in a residential area a short walk from the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia. We were a family of 5 fitted into one of their large rooms. It was tight, but absolutely fine and clean! Hotel were always helpful, in advise about where to go or what to do. Breakfast was simple, Turkish and...

I may have written this in other reviews, but I have 10 years of experience in hotels in Canada and, when I check into a hotel, I tend to be hypercritical. In spite of this, I would have to say that Ahmet Efendi Evi is a perfect place to stay. When I checked in I felt as though I was...

We just went here due to unexpected issues with our other booked hotel. The friendly staff did everything to help us, and was simply lovely. The room was nice and clean and have everything you need. I recommend it as it is probably one of the best in this price range.

Ideal for a few days in Istanbul. In a quit place but close to the hart of of the city. Book a room with view to the Blue Mosque; they have a touch of charm. But the best is the kindness you will find. They are really friendly.

Nice little hotel in the old city. The owners were so nice and helpful. They gave us great travel tips and let us leave our luggage with them when we arrived at 7am and also kept our bags on our departure day as we were taking an overnight bus. No problems with check in/check out. The room was clean, comfy,...

Thanks a lot for Yusuf and his staff, for warm, hospitality and cozy athmosfera. I highly recommended this place to feel Istanbul goodwill. We got interesting communication and perfect recommendations regarding food, water pipe and spa places. All of them was local, tasty and non touristic.

The old city of Istanbul is a truly lovely place to spend time. The positioning of the Ahmet Efendi Evi puts you only minutes (walk) from the Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace and the Hagia Sophia. While the Ahmet Effendi is a tad hard to find in the mish mash of little streets that make up the old city, it is...

My sister, cousin, sister-in-law and myself went to Istanbul in october. We payed for pickup from the airport which was fine. We arrived pretty late and were welcomed by the daily manager. He seemed nice, although a bit too eager for us. The place is not as big as we expected, the rooms were tidy and nice, but there was...

I have now been travelling for 4 months and this is by far the nicest place I have stayed at during this time! Easy and quick to organise the booking with reminder notice on upcoming stay and arrival information (very helpful). I was welcomed with so much warmth and found myself immediately more at home rather than in a guesthouse....

We went to Istanbul on a long weekend trip and stayed at this cosy little hotel in Sultanhament, just close to the seaside. The Ahmet Efendi Evi is at walking distance from virtually all the main historical buildings in the old town. It’s also easy to reach by public transport, as it takes about 10 minutes by walk to get...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
