This hotel is very centrally located to all major sites in Istanbul. It is an easy walk to the Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque, the Cistern and other sites. The staff at the hotel could not have been more accommodative to us. They are all very friendly, very helpful, and willing to help in any way possible. I... More

This review dates back to my visit in May 2014 but I had said that I would post a review as I left so this is a sort of New Year's Resolution! The hotel is very convenient for the main tourist sites of the city and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. Breakfast is simple and the evening meals unexciting... More

I have stayed at this hotel many times and it has always been a pleasant experience. However this year I was put in a room on the top floor. Between 5pm and midnight every night, a most unpleasant smell was emanating from the kitchen where the cooking had started for the evening meal. It was the smell of old fat... More

Everything about the Alaturka was perfect, from the friendly welcome to the delicious evening meal on the amazing roof terrace. The room was in keeping with the surroundings - as you would hope for in a pretty quiet side street of this historic city. It is located just a few minutes from Ayasofiya and Sultanahmet as well as tram links... More

We just spent a week at Alaturka Hotel i Instanbul. We were four friends travelling together and chose a family room. The room was located on the bottom floor, behind reception. The room was big and comfortable with one bathroom and one toilet. This hotel gets a high rating because of the fantastic staff. After a few days we really... More

We stayed in Alaturka Hotel for three nights in May 2014. It was a real surprise, since it looks like a pension from the outside, but rooms are large and service is excellent. The view from the terrace is astounding. We were in a ground floor room right by the street, but the noise was bearable and we were so tired... More

We booked this hotel on our first trip to Istanbul and were very happy with it. Stayed for 5 nights. The location is great. In the old town but not very busy. We have the great room with a view of the main street. The breakfast is great. The ladies in the kitchen so sweet even though they not speaking... More

Stayed here for a few days on a trip with my daughter. The hotel is in a great location just moments from the Blue Masque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace. It is also on the end of the street known as "Resturant Street" The room was small but quite cozy. The staff were always very friendly and willing to help!!... More

I stayed here for 5 nights-the hotel is in a great location close to all central sights & has a great view from the roof terrace. Although we were on the first floor which has poor sound insulation and you can here pumping music from bars until the earlier hours so wouldn't recommend if you're a family. Reception staff were... Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
