We were referred to the Terrace by a friend who said the owner and manager/receptionist had been very helpful to her as well as other traveling friends in the past. We could have done cheaper, we could have done glitzier, but we went with the idea of kindness, helpfulness and warm greetings. We were not disappointed! Kemal, the receptionist seemed...

Dogan bey and his team made it possible, that even with a group of multipy sensorial disabled (no wheelies!) people we could visit Istanbul. They found a home there for a week and memories that still accompany them now, over two years ago. Also as privat guests we have been there many times now. And each time it was a...

My husband and I stayed at the Terrace Guesthouse the late 90s and returned for 5 days in early September this year. Sometimes places are not as good as you remember, however Terrace is every bit as good as we remembered and more! Thank you Dogan, Kemal & Nelly for your wonderful hospitality and assistance, we loved our stay. Spotlessly...

Several years ago my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Istanbul at the Terrace. This time I returned with my mother and sister and enjoyed sharing this special place with them.. Dogan and Kemal went out of their way to make us feel at home. Bus tickets to Kas were purchased for us in advance to insure seats and...

I returned to the Terrace Guesthouse several times in the past two months as its always a pleasure to stay there. There is a great deal of competition in Sultanmet nowadays but I keep on coming back because of the location and the honesty and trustworthiness of the owner Dogan and the manager Kemal. Dogan and Kemal are more than...

Rooms with magnificent views especially the top room, great breakfast in a beautiful sunny place over looking the Bosporus, air conditioning for easy sleeping, in a quiet street with little street noise, beautiful carpets lining most walls, very clean bathrooms and rooms but the best thing about this guesthouse was the friendliness of Dogan who was always willing to help...

Such a friendly welcome from Dogan and Kemal, after their helpful emails answerig my queries about avoiding queues for museums, Topkapi and Hagia Sophia by buying museum passes. And once we arrived they helped us with so much more - where to eat, where to shop, tram routes etc. – nothing was too much trouble. We were entranced by the...

A wonderful guesthouse located right near all the main attractions in Sultanahmet. The views from the breakfast room were fantastic. Kemal and Dogan gave us daily restaurant recommendations for places all over the city including on the Asian side and every single one was a gem. We enjoyed our stay and definitely plan to return.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
