Before choosing Daphne Hotel I’d searched a lot, checked all other hotels in Istanbul, read all written comments about them to find a good hotel in the historical part of the city. I’m completely satisfied with my decision! Daphne Hotel has been located in the historical part of Istanbul, Sultan Ahmet. This touristic area is so crowded but fortunately this...

Daphane was an online 'pick in the dark' and we were happy to find the room clean and comfortable. Being by the water, the location was restful, quiet and within walking distance to all the sights. But what was most outstanding was the helpfulness and efficiency of the staff who were warm and very welcoming. As we travel frequently, these...

Just back from hotel Daphne. The hotel is in a great location, near the main attractions and in a very quiet street. We had a very nice and cozy room overlooking the sea, and the bathroom was ok. Everything was fine except for one thing: the weather was cold and wet, and the hotel does not have central heating. Each...

Hotel Daphne is locationally unbeatable as it is close enough to the Sultanahmet area without being right there. Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofia, Blue Mosque and the Sultanahmet Tram station are but a few minutes walk away. The fittings and decor are very modern, almost opulent at times in choice of color and fabric. The rooms are small but so very...

Just returned from Istanbul & a two night stay in hotel Daphne. The hotel was in a convenient location - minutes from Blue Mosque & easy walking distance to other old city sights. We had nice twin rooms (202 & 302) which had great views and both were lovely & clean. The hotel is in a very quiet side street...

I was visiting Istanbul, Turkey with my sister and Fiance for 2 weeks. I was on a tour and they set me up with this hotel the first night I arrived. The three of us loved it, both the morning and evening staff were so helpful. We trusted them and felt so comfortable that when we left Istanbul for 3...

My husband and parents stayed here in November 2007. I was very disappointed with our "sea view" room - you had to press your face up against the window and only then could you barely see what looked to be water! It was a small room. My parents had a bigger room with a better view, although we paid the...

we spend 8 days in this lovely hotel, as a family of 4 we had a reasonable size room with extra bed and a cot for my baby, the breakfast was good, the staff were friendly. The most important of this is the location is excellent and close to most of touristic sites such as blue mosque, topkapi palace and...

A newer construction in the old style, but showing some maintenance problems; leaky shower plumbing, moldy smell in bath, broken showerhead, broken curtain hardware, etc. Wireless worked, but spotty; only in the corner of the room. Rooms are nicely furnished, location is excellent (3 mins from Hippodrome and Blue Mosque), but the staff is at best indifferent. This is "off...

We have just returned from a vacation in Greece and Turkey. While in Istanbul, we stayed at the Hotel Daphne. It is a small boutique hotel with reasonable prices (99 euroes a night). The hotel is located in the area of Sultanahmet, in the old city. It is literally two minutes from the hippodrome and the Blue Mosque. The rooms...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
