Istanbul is one of the most beautiful places I've ever travelled to. One of the things that made our trip so fantastic was our stay at the Peninsula Hotel. Hotel Peninsula is not just a hotel; it is an experience. The cheerful greetings from the hoteliers every morning and night, made you feel like you were right at home. They...

Hey Folks, Anyone traveling to quaint Sultanahmet in Istanbul will find their stay much sweeter when experiencing the genuine hospitality given at Hotel Peninsula. We stayed for a week in this hotel in the middle of March 2008. The hotel is about two minutes' walk from the Blue Mosque and is therefore very close to the main sights in Istanbul. The staff were very friendly and gave us lots of information about the city. The room was well-decorated, clean, and the bathroom was pleasant....

We stayed in Hotel Peninsula for 5 nights in June--at the beginning and end of our two-week tour of Turkey. This was one of the best hotels we stayed at in Turkey. What makes this hotel wonderful is the perfect location (5 min. walk to major attractions, tram station, restaurants), nice, clean rooms, and delicious breakfast (the highlight for me...

Hotel Peninsula is in a great location with a great terrace view of the water. It was clean, safe and friendly. We stayed two nights and then when we found ourselves without a reservation later in our trip, the staff from Hotel Peninsula helped us find another hotel near there.

Our family of 4 stayed at Hotel Peninsular for 6 nights at the end of May 2008. We had 2 interconnected rooms which are perfect for us. The price is the main attraction for us when we booked (85 euros per night for both rooms!). It turns out the location is also very good. Especially if you plan to walk...

I stayed here for a few days in June with my husband in a sea-view room. Overall, we thought the hotel (which is more like a pension really) provided great value for money. Sure, rooms are relatively small & it's not salubrious, but the location, the terrace & the price made up for it. Positives: - Great location, right in...

I found this hotel by chance here on Trip Advisor. After reading reviews, looking at pictures, and going to the hotel's own web page, I decided to try it since the other hotels I have stayed at before were too expensive in the summer. The nightmare of delayed flights, missed connections, and lost luggage were quickly forgotten as I settled...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to the Hotel Peninsula in Istanbul. We are a small boutique hotel, nestled quietly at the end of leafy laneway. We are nestled amount this city’s great historical landmarks and you will instantly transport your mind heart upon arrival. When you go to buy your morning paper, you stroll past our 489 year old Turkish Hamam, tangled with vines and moss. This truly is an immersion into an oriental parallel, and we are pleased to be able to offer you warm, friendly accommodation during your journey here. The Peninsula has become a cultural institution over the years and we look forward (“wait with four eyes” in Turkish) to welcoming you to our extended family. ... more   less
