Taking into account the prices and size of most hotels in Istanbul we thought this was great value. The room wasn't very big, and the bathroom even smaller but it more than fit us and our backpacks. Was fine for us who were out sightseeing and needed a comfy quiet place to sleep. The key things for us were double...

This hotel is simply perfect. Don't expect luxuries but for a reasonable price you will be hosted in an exceptionally well managed hotel. Rooms and bathroom (the latter a bit small, though, maybe a standard in Istanbul) are very clean and hotel staff is very helpful. We had no problems at all and they help us with all our needs....

This little hidden gem of a hotel was the star of our month-long stay in Turkey. Emre and his staff are easily the most helpful hotel employees I've ever dealt with. Emre himself walked with me to a camera shop and negotiated me a much better price, which was more than any hotel owner has ever done for me. It...

This hotel is ideally located in the Sultanahmet area of Istanbul, and is extremely close to the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, tram line, and many other tourist attractions. The hotel is quiet (except for the early morning call to prayer from the mosque next door), the staff will give you information on nice things to do in the city...

We stayed 4 days in this hotel (me, my wife and our relates: 10 people of three generation from 5 to 75 years old in 4 rooms). I found this very nice hotel 2 years ago in a previous vacation. All we was happy for the location very near (2 to 10 min walking) to the major attractions and tramline...

We stayed for one week at this budget hotel. It is very clean-room and bath. It is right in the heart of attractions (Aya Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi palace) you would want to see and down thw street from the tram line. The staff are fluent in English, always at the desk and very knowledgeable about sights and schedules. Finally...

I really loved this place. I've stayed in Istanbul many times and this hotel really rates right up there with the best all around values to be had in this city. First of all, you will die when you see that the hotel is literally at the foot of Hagia Sophia- it is backlit at night. Location could not be...

The Hotel is so central you can walk absolutely everywhere. The staff where very welcoming, friendly and helpful and made our stay very memorable especially the resident "DB". My daughter’s favorite part of our holiday was our hotel. I would like to thank the staff for coming to my rescue after half way to the airport I realized I left...

The Room- The hotel room we had was very clean and tidy with TV and fridge, dont expect modern designer decor but perfectly adequate. The bathroom was also very clean with a shower that had great water pressure and plenty of hot water even at peak morning times. The bed was comfortable. The only issue with the room was the...

I booked this hotel based on some guidebook reviews. I booked a single room and it was the smallest room I have ever seen. The bathroom door had to be completely closed to use the sink. The hotel was in a great location, very clean, and the staff was very helpful. But, if you are looking for value there were...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The cradle of civilization...Turkey...From Hitites to Urartus, Phrygians to Lycians, from Romans to Seljuks...They all lived here. A city that gave birth to and fostered three glorious empires...The East Roman empire, the Byzantine empire and the Ottoman empire...Once the capital city of these empires, Istanbul is still alive and breathing a mystical blend of air, weary of the contemprary urbanization and cultural clashes. Zeynep Sultan Hotel is where you will blend a magical potion from a Roman hippodrome, an Egyptian obelisque, a Byzantine Church and an Ottoman Grand Bazaar. And maybe you will top it with the Blue Mosque or the Topkapi Palace... ... more   less
