Fantastic location, fabulous place for families with kids, very nice, friendly and professional people. They were very much accommodating to our kids. Service was very good. Folks at the front desk always gave us the right information and suggested places to eat, dine, shop and visit, keeping in mid that we had kids.

On a quiet side street in Sultanahmet Neighborhood -- couple blocks from Blue Mosque / Hagia Sophia / Topkapi Palace. They provided airport pick up for 25 Euros. Charming room. In-room safe. Small fridge. Drinking water in large dispensers in lobby and on roof with cups as needed. Soap and shampoo provided. Great breakfast on the roof (enclosed or outside)...

Bearing in mind that this is not a high-end luxury hotel, it's an excellent bet if you're looking for something affordable in the Sultanahmet area (around Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque). It's a small place with maybe a dozen rooms or so. But the rooms are tidy and comfortable and the staff helpful and friendly. There are a lot of...

Very comfortable. Rooms are nothing special or luxurious, but clean and great for sleeping after long days in Istanbul. Excellent location and very friendly staff. Beautiful rooftop terrace for breakfast (the food is so so)

We found this place through a friend's recommendation, just behind the Aya Sofia and very convenient for the Major tourist sights. The staff are very friendly and helpful, with lots of good suggestions for things to do. The rooms are basic, but clean and comfortable: our family room was just right for the four of us. Breakfast in the top-floor...

We were very happy with this small hotel. The location was great, within easy walking distance of major sites and tram stop. Although our room was small, it was very nice, with wooden floor, 4 poster bed and lots of windows, plus a small safe. The free Wi-Fi worked well. There was some late-night noise from the nearby street full...

This a basic room but that is really all you need for trip to Istanbul. We had a room overlooking a central courtyard and found it to be quiet. The bathrooms were modernized and easy to use. The bed was comfortable and large enough to accommodate my 6'5" husband. The location is excellent since you can easily walk to all...

I stayed In Alp guesthouse for 5 night and I liked the location, the room, the breakfast overseeing the marmara sea and the friendly and very helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable and very quiet which is surprising as it is close to a very busy street.

Compared with a different hotel on the outskirts of town I later stayed at for business meetings, this hotel was a joy. Cons? * The staff don't speak very good English, though they try very hard. * The WiFi is lame...speed and signal aren't as reliable as they ought to be. * Television channels don't provide a clear screen for...

Hotel Alp is the perfect location to easily access all of the sites, tram and restaurants. The staff is very helpful in securing taxis, giving restaurant suggestions, carrying bags and helping with directions. We stayed here in May, 2014 and plan to return. It is a lovely spot with a view of the Marmara from breakfast on the rooftop terrace...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“From the window of room 404 you can see the top of Hagia Sophia over the neighboring buildings. The floors are wooden, so upper levels can be quieter if you prefer not to hear people walking around.”
