This hotel advertises itself as 4 stars. I wonder who is giving those stars nowadays, what is the criteria? Because they probably got those stars in 1981 and were never assessed again. Basically it is a filthy and old hotel. Wallpaper falling from the wall, mould in the bathtube, soap is the same you find on public toitets, flooring is...

Location of the hotel is the best thing about it and may be the only reason why it may seem overpriced. It's right beside the taksim metro station, walking distance from the kabatas funicular and istiklal street. The hotel itself is generally okay but not fancy. The rooms are very small but clean. No tea and coffee maker in the...

I have never seen any hotel as bad as this one. It's crowded and noisy, the rooms are all crammed. The picture frames are bigger than the TV screen! The halls are all dark and dirty, and the carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in years. I would never recommend such a hotel. There were only two small towels...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
