This is a charming, clean, well-run bed and breakfast hotel. The staff were uniformly pleasant and curteous and went out of their way to accommodate me. The rooms are charming, if a bit small. The location couldn't be better: easy walking distance to Hagia Sofia, the Cisterns, Topkapi, etc.

We four friends celebrating our 45th Wedding Anniversary spent 6 truly splendid nights in this comfortable hotel at a very reasonable cost. The staff proved efficient friendly and attentive making our stay one of our best anniversaries ever. Free collection and return to the Airport. The location is most convenient for all that Istanbul has to offer being located overlooking...

I booked the hotel through the BA website and all went very smoothly. My single room was clean and light and well equipped . The hotel is only a short walk from Sultanahmet tram stop so if you fly to Ataturk airport take the metro to Zetinburnu and then tram to Sultanahmet which will cost 3TL. I'm looking forward to...

We spent 5 nights at the wonderful Celal Sultan Hotel. Right from entering through the front door, the hotel was an absolute gem. The reception staff were very friendly and most helpful helping us with city tours. The rooms allocated to myself and my travelling guests were of the highest quality and the breakfast each day was more than anyone...

Beautifully designed by an Antwerp interior designer, this hotel has sumptuous eastern colours and is a warm and welcoming place to return to each evening after busy days sightseeing. Its position is brilliant for visiting the main historic sights of Istanbul. We stayed for 5 nights and just by walking, saw all we’d planned to without having to resort to...

We took my wife's elderly parents (87 and 83) on their first trip to Istanbul, staying for the first 6 nights at Celal Sultan. The Superior Rooms were excellent, very clean and comfortable and no noise outside in the small hours! Breakfasts were self-serve, offering a wide choice of hot and cold food, juices, tea and coffee. Staff were friendly, pleasant...

The positive aspects are a wonderful breakfast and a great location. From the hotel the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Cistern, and Tram are all within close walking distance. Plus many cafes and restaurants, too. The view from the junior suite was fabulous of the Hagia Sophia. The negative: The junior suite was average. This room was not worth...

We recently stayed in the Celal Sultan Boutique Hotel for four days and enjoyed the ambiance, friendly staff and the breathtaking terrace view. Our room was tastefully decorated, very comfortable and the Roof Restaurant was a gem, with delicious, fresh food served on lovely terrace. The Celal Sultan Hotel is a lovely small, charming hotel in the Old City district...

Celal Sultan is wonderfully situated in the Old City in a quiet side street just footsteps away from the Yerebatan Cistern ! Unlike many of the hotels in Sultanhamet it is not disturbed by the noise of the traffic or the busy railway line. We had a spacious superior room, which was both clean and comfortable.Breakfast was good and different...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
