Location: Couldn't be better, right in the historical core of Istanbul ... two and a half blocks to Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, underground cistern ... a short walk to the Sultanahmet tram stop (Also close to Gülhane stop but is an uphill walk to the hotel) ... yet is on a quiet side street. Tram very useful for returning from...

This hotel is the perfect location if you want to explore the old city. You are minutes from the main attractions of the old quater, no taxis needed. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and made our stay very enjoyable, offering suggestions, recommendations and organising reservations and transport. I would definately stay again with them.

We stayed 5 nights at this delightful hotel set in a perfect location close to all the main sites. The staff were outstanding and could not do enough for us to ensure we had an enjoyable and comfortable stay - a special mention for Aziz who was extremely helpful. We stayed in the Celal Sultan for a long weekend and it was excellent. The staff were so friendly and helpful and always had the answers to our questions (and if they didn't they found them!). The hotel is in a perfect location...5 minutes walk to the main sites of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and grand bazaar. Our room...

This is a charming, clean, well-run bed and breakfast hotel. The staff were uniformly pleasant and curteous and went out of their way to accommodate me. The rooms are charming, if a bit small. The location couldn't be better: easy walking distance to Hagia Sofia, the Cisterns, Topkapi, etc.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
