Checked in for 5 nights. Lovely pool but pretty much everything else lacking. Rooms extremely tired - broken chair on balcony, stained chair in room, shower only fit for someone under 5' 4". Food average at best, inedible at worst. Order a 'vegetarian pizza' which was a margarita with tinned sweetcorn thrown over it. Burger was disgusting and sent back....

We were upgraded to a garden suite which was very comfortable. The service was friendly and efficient. The view from the balcony restaurant of ships passing reminded us of the long and important history of this area.

My wife and I decompressed at the Ciragan Palace after a 10 day bus tour through Turkey. It was well worth it. After too many days in midrange hotels, being greeted at entry and escorted to our superior Bosphorus view room was really nice. Spa treatments were great, swimming in the outside pool (in January) overlooking the Bosphorus was a...

This is a beautiful hotel and property. I was a little concerned about the location because it's slightly removed from the center of Istanbul. Also concerned because some of the pictures on the website made it look dark with a faded elegance. But we decided to try it based on friends recommendation. We are so glad we did! It was...

Pay up for a Bosphorus view, and maybe it's worth it. But otherwise, the hotel is a bit of a disappointment. Rooms are really quite shabby and desperately in need of an upgrade (or at least a good deep clean). Service is well meaning, but being shown to a smoking room with a twin after booking a non-smoking king was...

I stayed at the deluxe bosphorus view room in May. The room has a huge balcony facing the bosphorus ,it was so scenic watching the ships stroll by amidst prayer calls from old ottoman mosques.I loved dining at the Turgan turkish restaurant which is located at the ciragan palace.Everything we ordered was top notch perfect. The breakfast buffet was lovely,You...

BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS. IT STARTS WITH BAD MANAGEMENT AT THE TOP. Would you want to stay at a hotel managed by someone who would confiscate your deposit after cancelling the reservation five months prior to the intended stay? What else would the hotel do to get your money? In December 2013, I booked online a two-day stay at The...

Dear Sir, Thank you for posting your comment on TripAdvisor. I deeply regret to hear that we were not able to meet your expectations. Our Early Booker Rate is a special promotion that offers a major quotation advantage while being subject to strict terms and conditions such as a non-refundable deposit, a similar model to that exercised in airplane industry....

Ciragan is a true 5* hotel sitting on the European bank of Bosphorus, offering mesmerizing views of ships passing by and the Asian side of Constantinople (the Byzantine name for Istanbul), impeccable service, excellent breakfast that you can enjoy on the outside veranda (weather permitted) and top notch facilities. Nevertheless, that inviting view has its pros (naturally) and some cons....

Staying in Besiktas

Neighbourhood Profile
Besiktas
In Besiktas, skyscrapers compete with palaces for space in an upscale vista replete with hilly green parkland filling in the margins. Step into this rather wealthy neighbourhood and discover a rich mix of opportunities to shop, dine, and be entertained. For folks in search of urban buzz, not to mention a constant reminder of just how important Istanbul’s waterways are to its rich history, there's the frenetic Besiktas ferry terminal or the city’s most vibrant fish market to explore. For a timeout of metropolitan proportions, head to the bucolic Yildiz Park or the chic Bosphorus-side fishing village of Ortakoy. Attractions such as the grandiose Dolmabahce Palace and a bevy of other stately residences await admiration. To be sure, this large and not overly touristy swath of Istanbul yields plenty of pleasure for all.
