This is a friendly place to hang your hat. The staff are friendly, the rooms are pretty, and the location is special - very quiet at night, yet you are close to the important Sultanahmet sights. The breakfast is delicious. I would stay here again if staying in the Sultanahmet area. The price is reasonable considering what a good experience...

I highly recommend this hotel. I came to Istambul with my family and found this place by chance, but it was one of the best things that could have happened to us. The staff goes out and beyond to make you feel welcome and help you out even if it´s not directly connected for them as business. The hotel is...

My family and another family spent four nights at the Kumru hotel and we were delighted by the experience. The proprietor was extremely helpful and her being an American expat made for easy communication - in Turkey, the locals do not speak english very well at all and most times it is a struggle if you don't speak Turkish. She...

We were visiting Istanbul (and Turkey) for the first time for our daughter's wedding. The Kumru Hotel was a great place to begin our adventure. The accommodations were modern and comfortable, bright and airy rooms, plenty of light for reading and a tasty breakfast buffet at no additional cost (with traditional Turkish delicacies as well as cereal and fresh squeezed...

We were recommended this hotel as "acceptable" but decided to stay here anyway and I am so glad we did. This is not a luxury hotel by any means but what sets it apart is the customer service from owners Melissa and Abdul. They are truly fantastic hosts that do their best to make your vacation a truly memorable experience....

Stayed round the corner at a very pleasant place. On our last day in Istanbul, a Sunday, we wanted to do our laundry. Not so easy in Sultanahmet! The people at our place phoned a laundry but it was closed. The Best Western wouldn't help us because we weren't staying there. Walked by Kumru Hotel and asked for advice. Not...

This nice boutique hotel was conveniently located at the Sultanahmet District where major tourist attractions such as the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia, Topkapi Palace and Grand Bazaar were all within easy walking distance. The Sultanahmet Tram Station was also within walking distance despite of a short steep walk. There were quite a few good restaurants nearby. It was modernly decorated...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
