This hotel was our last minutes option; since hotel Maywood (just opposite) was overbooked for our last night in Istanbul. It was good in a way that we did not have to wander about looking for an overnight accommodation. The hotel seemed to be very old, and later renovated to fit in modern amenities. There is no elevator. We asked...

I really enjoyed my stay at the "Grand Seigneur" Hotel. I liked the colorful decoration on the room doors and on the ceiling and windows in the lobby. The staff was extremely friendly, always ready to bring a cup of tea or coffee up to my room. I had a nice, rather quiet room on second floor (206). The breakfast...

We were very disappointed with this hotel. Our room was clean but it was shabby and very basic. The bathroom was smelly. It consisted of a shower and handbasin but the toilet was located inside the shower which made it very awkward to use. A hairdryer was available and shampoos, soap and fresh towels were supplied every day. The room...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
