Yes it is not a star hotel. It is a guesthouse in a cosy athmosphere. All Staff so friendly. They are always giving some advices and recommend places to go. We have booked it as it is a small guesthouse and a budget place to stay. According to price / value, we can say it is a nice place.

Was fantastic place to stay where the staff went out of their way to accommodate my friends and I. The 24 hour reception is fantastic! The rooms are great quality and well furnished with air conditioning that worked very well. The staff even took us out to have a true local (non-tourist) experience of Istanbul which was one of my...

At the first sight, this guesthouse may be look like a bad choice, but it certainly is NOT! Yes you might think that the location of the guesthouse is not direct in the centrum but 10 minutes of walking makes you to find yourself at the blue mosq. This sure is a good point to take a cab or travel...

We booked this guest house 2 months prior to our travel. It is situated a bit on a back street and there is a railway just next to it behind the wall. Upon arrival to the hotel we were told that the price has increased. I was trying to ask why could not they notify us by email, but his...

Istanbul City Guest House is a small hotel just 5 minutes walking distance from the main attractions of Sultanahmet district. Blue Mosque, Aya Sofiya and Topkapi Palace are just a stone through away. In case you travel through plane you can take the Metro Train from the airport up to the last station Aksaray and from there it is a...

After staying 10 days in City Guesthouse Istanbul we can recommend this place warmly. It's location is within walking distance from all the major tourist sites and the price is very affordable. Even if its a low price hotel , it doesn't stand back for much higher priced hotels when it comes to service and standards. The hospitality of the...

We came to this guesthouse through recommendations by family members who already had a great time staying there. The building is very well-located, just on a few minutes from the famous blue mosque and aya sofya (although need to walk a steap road to get there). From our room window on the second floow we had a view on the...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

“Triple rooms have bigger bathrooms & better views.”

“As with all buildings around the Mediterranean, much of the interiors is decorated with tiles or marble. And that resonates the sounds, in this case as well in particular the talking in the reception area. On the first floor and in the basement rooms you will hear this clearly. So if you can get a room at the second or third floor, you'll hear less of this, but possibly more of the local train that passes by. The rooms in the back are larger than in the front. Back is not necesseraly quieter than front.”
