It is no more than a 1, or at most 2 star accommodation. The boys on reception are unhelpful, the miniscule room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, the bathroom is minute, there was mould in the shower, the shower head itself was held together by a plastic bag, the door to the shower fell off, the door to the bathroom...

The room did not have a table to place a computer on, only one chair, no safe, and a small wardrobe. Shower enclosure is really small, not fit for large persons. Room wifi was good. It took me several days to remove the smoking smell from my room, I thought I asked for a non-smoking one. The breakfast was a...

In a place where location is everything (you don't want to end up paying 30EUR taxi/day, right?), The Pera surely has much to offer at decent prices but rooms are small and need some maintenance and if you're corpulent, there's no chance you'll fit into the tiny shower. Room and bathroom are generally clean with the exception of the space...

Good location (for nightlife) but terrible hotel. Room was clean enough but bed was unusually narrow; bathroom was too small and could hardly fit into shower cabin; bad quality material and shoddy work so that door kept falling off; also water leaked from ceiling into the electric installation luckily did not get electrocuted. Probably the worst breakfast in any hotel...

The room is small but comfortable to stay with and has important amenities in the room like frige, wifi, tv, telephone etc. Also important to consider the hotel is clean the staff are polite and the hotel is located in the center. Just walking distance by the shopping centers, tourist spots and accessible to all public transportations specially the subway...

I just came home from Istanbul, i got short vacation, and my trip was spontaneous, just because i found cheap ticket from Turkish airlines. I planned stay at Beyoglu, and walk a lot around this place. So i found THE PERA HOTEL by internet. I read some comments about hotel here, at TripAdvisor, but i was unsure some of them are...

This hotel's rooms were pretty tiny - which is no big deal in Istanbul. But I don't consider this a 3.5* hotel (in fact many of the star ratings for Istanbul hotels are a bit bloated). The bathroom was tiny - I found it a bit tough to shower (and I'm not a prissy dude). Also the window was broken...

My son and I were incorrectly booked into this hotel through an online travel service. Although we tried to change it, because the room was prepaid and we could not get through to the booking agent in Europe, we had no choice but to stay. The room they showed us was awful with peeling paint and facing the back -...

We booked this as it had been recommended by a friend as cheap and in a great location. Booked a really cheap deal on booking.com but then when we checked in the manager haggled with us to get us to pay a bit extra for the "luxury room" We checked out the room that we had originally booked - it...

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Beyoglu
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.

“Upper floor rooms are riccomandable because Istambul is generally very loud. There are only 2 rooms with view on the 6th floor, if these are occupied, I'd riccomand rooms in the back side of the htel as they are a bit larger quieter and darker for a better sleep. Windows have no shutter nor thik curtains: bring with you a blindfold or you'll wake up with the sun.”
