Close to many attractions on the European side and easy access to public transportation. We chose the room at the top that has a great view to the Blue Mosque and the Marmara Sea. The breakfast buffet was quite OK. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Hotels in the very heart of a city fall into two categories: they are either very luxurious, grand, spacious, corporate and consequently phenomenally expensive, or they are small, individual, quirky and privately owned. If you have come to Istanbul to see the sights and stay in the old town, this is the place for you. It is in what used...

This hotel is in a great location just 300m walk from the Blue Mosque. We paid Euro 90 a night for a 2 night stay which is one of the cheaper prices in the area. However, it is a budget hotel, so unless you get one of the balcony rooms, they are very cramped, particularly if you have 2 suitcases....

The Lamp Hotel is perfectly located for touring the Old Town section of Istanbul. My room had an unobstructed view of the Blue Mosque, located less than a block away! My room also had air conditioning, flat screen TV, an in-room refrigerator, and a very comfortable bed. I found Mehmet, the owner/manager, to be very helpful and pleasant to me....

We stayed for a week at this guesthouse and we had a lovely room facing the blue mosque... every morning we got a healthy breakfast and the host was really nice and helpful! We really enjoyed staying here, it was very quiet and there is a mini market just beneath which is open 24/7 so thats a big plus! I...

Me and my wife looked at loads hotels in Istanbul and most just didn't fit our budget as they were extremely overpriced trying to find a room close to the blue mosque. We paid roughly 55 Euros per night and booked online prior to flying out there. The hotel is situated around 5 mins away from the amazing blue mosque...

We spent nine nights at the Lamp Hotel and found it to be exactly what we needed. It is just minutes from the Sultanahmet tram stop and a 5 minute walk to the Topkapi Palace, Haghia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. The rooms are small, but quiet and comfortable. The breakfast buffet is generous with made-to-order omelettes and in the...

I found Lamp Hotel a bit frustrating. I felt quite uncomfortable here. Mehmet, one of the brothers that runs the place was quite rude to me. I was staying in the hotel in order to meet up with friends from India who had the room above me. Mehmet made me pay of the room in full on arrival, even after...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
