For its price the Yoho Colombo City Hotel met all our needs and then some. The location for us was perfect, right in the middle of the old colonial area right next to the eateries of the old Dutch hospital, with an easy walking distance to Galle face green and the ocean promenade or a 10-minute stroll to the markets and railway terminal. The room was clean and secure with good bathroom facilities. The rooftop restaurant served a large and comprehensive breakfast buffet of both western and local choices additionally it also had quality choices for lunch or dinner. An added bonus here is that sunset is visible from the rooftop. Overall what I would call a sound reliable choice with friendly helpful staff.

A good location but you pay for location with noise and hassle from street sellers and beggars. We were originally given a room which overlooked the internal courtyard but the smell was awful. The courtyard is a smoking area and the only window overlooked it. The smell was overpowering and the room also smelt damp and musty. The staff's initial response was to spray the room which did nothing. We were moved to a front room with a small balcony but single glazed and doors that didnt close properly made it very noisy. I believe smoking is also permitted in rooms though there are signs saying not to throw cigarette butts from balcony. The room was not very clean. Bedding and towels both were marked. Beds were also not comfortable. There are not enough plugs for modern travellers. WiFi did not work in room but management did provide a router . Though this used one of the few plugs. Bathroom was tired and although not dirty it wasn't clean as could be seen from getting dirty feet after a shower. There was also less than half a roll of toilet paper and only a small used piece of soap. The roof bar was nice with lovely views but the music going on until midnight kept us awake and then moving the equipment was unnecessary at that time. Breakfast was poor. Fellow guests who ate at 7am found good choice and good service. An hour later there was minimal choice and the food appeared to have been out for a long time. The egg station cook was not good and either over or under cooked food. The staff were sitting at a table drinking tea rather than attending to guests.

Colombo was the last stop of our Sri Lanka tour and we were very determined to stay somewhere near Ministry of Crab since this was always there in our bucket list and we wanted to stay as close as we could. Also, staying in luxury hotel was not in our plan this time. Hence, Colombo City Hotel was the best choice for a reasonable price.
Location: The hotel is located right in the Fort area, just opposite to World Trade Centre and next to the Dutch Hospital area which is the place for many tourist attractions. It is close to famous eateries like Ministry of Crab and Black Pepper. Other big restaurants and attractions like Galle Face Green, ocean promenade and railway stations are also close by.
Room and facilities: We took a room for three people and the room that we got was spacious enough for us. Tea/ coffee facilities were there in the room. It also had a refrigerator, safe deposit locker and a big wardrobe. A/C was fully working. The beds were comfortable and we had a peaceful sleep after a hectic day at work. The bathroom was clean with all necessary facilities. There’s a seating area in the lobby in each floor.
Service: Room service and staff behaviour were really good. The staffs were quick to respond and were really humble and polite. Restaurant: The hotel has a rooftop restaurant which serves a great buffet breakfast. Choices include both western and local cuisines. Can’t say about lunch/ dinner food quality, since we did not try any of these there.
Pros: Superb location, Reasonable price, Good service Cons: Elevator might seem little dingy. Can be bit noisy if you stay at the lower floors.
Final comment: Recommended only for a short stay. If you want good location at reasonable price for a couple of days, go for it.

The best I can say about the hotel is it is in the middle of the Fort, a part of Colombo with a handful of attractions and photographic opportunities. The hotel itself has a nice rooftop restaurant [on the fifth floor], its fare pretty good and reasonably priced. It otherwise does not have much verve or atmosphere. The elevator floors were covered with broken up cardboard boxes. It does have two elevators. Some floors [like the third] had sitting areas which turned into rather loud gatherings. My room was okay. I did not mind it was a bit small but it might be rather cozy for two people. There were coffee/tea facilities. The a/c worked well. The windows were not sealed, rather raucous music drifting in from outside. The bathroom is good with a full shower curtain plus some basic amenities. I could charge things when out of the room, a bonus. It was maybe a bit disappointed as the last hotel of a group tour with generally rather nice digs. If you want, however, a place without too many trimmings with an expected price to match, this might be for you as a base.

The room had all the amenities advertised. It was very clean throughout. One of the best hot showers I have had in any hotel anywhere. The bed was comfortable. The room was cleaned and tea/coffee etc restocked daily by very friendly staff. Breakfast provided a very extensive selection from the buffet and was good value. The lunch and dinner menu were reasonably priced and good value. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and efficient. There are plenty of other restaurants and eateries nearby as well, with may options for low price or more expensive tastes. Easy walking distance to some notable attractions and not far to other by taxi or bus etc.

I had a fantastic time at this hotel. The food was good and for all my needs there was some stuff person to care about, fulfilling my wishes with kindness. I can highly recommend the nice massage lady's services (unfortunately I have no name but she got a cool scar on her face) She is very polite and professional. Best massage I had on my trip! The hotel itself is quite centered in Colombo so for many sightseeing I didn't even had to take Uber but rather having a nice walk. My room was stunning. Beautiful design and a large bathroom. The hotel got many playful details with artistic details. Hope to be back some day. Best wishes from Berlin, Germany.♡

Opposite the world trade centre and next to the dutch hospital, this hotel is well located for a short stay in Colombo. A short tuk tuk ride from Colombo fort station it is set in the heart of the financial district next to a number of higher end hotels and boutiques as well as bars targeted at tourists. Very reasonably priced for a capital city stay. The rooms are large and the staff are helpful. Wouldn’t recommend for anything longer than a couple of days, but does exactly what is says on the tin for a short stay in Colombo.

Reception area was very small but we were checked in quickly and given our room keys promptly. Lifts to room were very small and not very pleasant.
Room was small with no views. Bathroom was adequate. Shower always had hot water.
Location of hotel was excellent opposite the world trade centre and short walk to plenty of restaurants. Also a shopping mall and beach were just 10 minutes walk away.
Loved the roof top bar area with lovely views of lotus tower, world trade centre and also view of the sea.
Breakfast had very limited choices. However enjoyed the freshly cooked eggs

I was at the city centre area yesterday. Because It was lunch time I stopped by to have their Fish curry meal from the outlet .I was thoroughly disappointed. The food was extremely salty and l Couldn't even have a spoon full of the food .I complained to the staff at the counter . I was not offered anything else . They are only interested in taking the money .

View from the hotel room is Amazing! staff are well mannered. No major problems. Break fast included in hotel was decent. Checkin process was smooth they verified passport and provided room in 5 mins. We stayed here for 1 night. Peaceful stay.
