We stayed at The Ocean Colombo for a night, it was a stop over for us from Airport. It took us 45 mins to reach the hotel from the Airport. It’s located on the main road , facing the Indian Ocean and Railway tracks ( they were no disturbance). The room was neat and clean and we had a nice sleep, the morning view from the room was mesmerising. Please do not cross the railway tracks as the area on the other side is pretty less and it’s risky with kids. For Breakfast they had almost no options for pure vegetarians, so we settled with bread butter and coffee. Overall good experience.

Very pleasant stay,rooms, bathroom are clean & nit, specious too..& not to forget,best views of sea. I had included breakfast with room booking & it was really worth.So many varieties they provide;serving staff themselves asks if we want to try any different dish from their kitchen & they will make it immediately. Had dinner once,but didn't like it so for next days dinner I chose to walk out. For backpackers,who wants to keep their bags after check-out & roam around the city, they have a rest-room but don't have shower & in a sea side city like colombo,shower is must after a tiring humid day. That's the only drawback I faced.

The hotel and the restaurant itself are ok, nothing great, but the rooms that have a view of the ocean are really nice. The room was spacious and my room was on the 6th floor and I could not see the road in front of the hotel but had a direct views of the waves splashing in the ocean. No complaints about the room itself - I actually loved the views from the glass wall. They do provide bottled water in the room, and kettle for tea and coffee. You can order room service from the restaurant on the ground floor too.
Was not too impressed by the restaurant as it did not have any much vegetarian options and the front desk area seemed to lack air conditioning. Also the hotel itself is situated a little far from Galle Face, which was a nice happening place. This was not a great area to walk at night - it is just a busy street, though it seemed safe. I had a car and a driver who took me around and dropped me at the hotel, so the location did not matter much but otherwise it can make a difference. Maybe there were grocery stores and some restaurants in the nearby streets but could not see anything in the immediate vicinity.
You will hear street noise if you are on the lower floors, since there is a busy road and train tracks right in front of the hotel. There is a bar on the top but I was not directly below it, so am not sure if the rooms below could hear any noises from the bar and the live band upstairs.

Clean rooms in the heart of Colombo, very convenient. Value for money- ac was working adhoc - but was fixed promptly by staff. Staff very polite and helpful. Did not have meals in the restaurant but had drinks in the rooftop bar-great view.

As per earlier review, all employees are super Stars for the Ocean Hotel No doubt on it, When you enter, everyone greets you. but welcome drink only for selected guest (I don't know what basis, I guess who book directly) but Management should control the lower level staff with strict supervision. Management should concentrate SPA service GYM and swimming pool is missing. When you compare the cost, they charge more, but when you think about the Stars in the Ocean, it is Ok. Breathtaking view of the sea. The only memory that flashes my mind when I think of my first ever trip to Colombo.
Large windows with an astonishingly amazing view of the sea as long as your eyes can see, welcome you as you step into the room. They only have sea-facing rooms if I am not mistaken. A narrow two-way road and a railway track are all that is in between your view if you are standing at the gate of the hotel.
The rooms are neat, accommodative, comfortable beds and all amenities you would look for in comfortable accommodation. Ask for a room on the top floors. Breakfast is limited but sumptuous.

Very bad service, on arrival no welcome drink was served, they try to charge us more for the room, we refused and said we will pay the exact amount on booking.com. later they said it was a mistake from the system. Everyday after the room service Housekeeping did not provide the bath towels. We have to call for the towels and it took more tha 20 min to deliver. For the breakfast they have buffet and the options are very less.

If you want a bit of peace and quite then this is your hotel. Sea facing has a great view of the Indian Ocean. One downside is that there is no swimming allowed along Marine Drive where the hotel is situated. We were upgraded to a corner room which was spacious and airy. Nice comfortable beds too. The room rates were reasonably priced. Staff were friendly. Arrived at the hotel at 4am and had the hotel pick me upfron the airport . Would like to stay here again

Rooms were beautiful and spacious. It’s was clean and neat. We had booked 2 rooms and both rooms were neat and clean. My room however did not have towels. Called reception however no towels after 30 minutes so I had to hunt for someone to help me. We booked the room however our flights changed had therefore used the room for few hrs to freshen up. Reception was not receptive to cancellation and wanted 50% cancellation fee though we had given more then 3 days notice. We found out that their family room price was same as booking 2 deluxe room so we just went with our old booking. It’s a basic no frill hotel with basic ammenities. Good for a night only. View is of the rough sea and trains only.

My flight was landing at 1 am. after a rather long flight. I arranged with my tour agent to book a simple hotel for some rest before starting our tour. He booked me one night and managed to ask for early check-in at 2 am. with breakfast for two for an extra 20$!! The receptionist was waiting for us, and Bell Boy got our bags, we were asleep very soon on our comfortable bed. We woke up to the beautiful ocean view. The room is spacious with a bit old furniture. Kettle with tea and coffee with 2 bottles of water. The fridge was locked, and we called the receptionist, who sent the bellboy to unlock. Comfort room is good, but there were black molds on the ceiling, probably from leaking toilet above. We could observe the street, people fishing and relaxing on the shore and the passing trains, and best of all the sunset from your bed. Luckily, it was soundproof, and street and train noise didn't trouble us. Breakfast buffet has limited items but was adequate. Eggs can be ordered. House keeping was emotionless and can't understand or speak or communicate with guests. Looks very much depressed. We had the chance to see the sunset from the roof which was awesome.

I am not sure but I think all places in Sri Lanka have Indian meals. However I did not have a good experience at Ocean Colombo which was recommended by the tour company. If I were to go to Colombo again I would stay at the Cinnamon Grand hotel. The Cinnamon chain is very good.
The Ocean Hotel has vegetarian food but their service is slow. I am a non-vegetarian so the food I found was quite delicious. So not sure about vegetarian food.
You get taxi service in front of the reception. But, will suggest to look online as the service is quite costly, unless you go for hard negotiation.
There are more places to choose from in the Colombo area.
