I booked here to stay for 3 nights after my tour and given its location the price was very reasonable. I didn’t expect the pool and gym to be in the adjacent building (depending on what room type). The gym facilities are the best I’ve seen in Sri Lanka. No bottled water in rooms but they give you filtered water in a flask ( Food City is across the road I went to buy water). You will need to ring reception before you go to the gym/pool then they will send staff there. The room is small and dated it could benefit from some renovations as the light switches and PowerPoints are old. The cupboard looks like it’s from the 80’s. The main issue is the walls are not sound proof I can hear slamming of doors, people in the next room singing and the electrical noise of the fridge running. One housekeeper wasn’t overly friendly when I asked for a second towel I got asked why, I didn’t get a second towel when I returned to me room! Also once after housekeeping I had no toilet paper so I had to call reception again. Pure laziness I think. There’s old cup marks on the coffee table, doesn’t look good. I would say it’s more a 3 star than a 4 star hotel as advertised on booking.com . It’s ok for the price and a clean bed to sleep in. Reception and other staff have been friendly and accommodating.

I have been staying at Renuka City Hotel from year 2007. Most of my stay at Colombo has been at Renuka City Hotel . This is value for money hotel located on Galle Road. Most of the other hotels in Galle Road are luxurious hotels, Renuka City Hotel has two blocks with rooms in the new block being more new and spacious. The old block houses rooms which are cramped with little space to move around, the bathroom and shower area are bit tiny. However the beds are comfortable, the bathroom functional. There is small desk to work, Wifi is decent. There is a swimming pool and small gym too.
Aircon is of the old style and the air flow does not get controlled even if you regulate the temperature in the thermostat. The positioning of the aircon vents in some rooms directly hit your bed while in some rooms it is in the corner. So either you are getting too old air directly on to your bed or the room lacks sufficient airflow depending upon how the aircon vent is positioned.
Clearly the rooms in old wing is showing signs of wear and tear. As this hotel is on the main Galle Road, the rooms facing the main road will encounter good amount of noise coming thru your room from the road specially during the day ( of vehicles passing by ) The room windows are not sound proof. For a light sleeper it's best to choose the rooms not facing the main road.
The staff at the hotel are helpful and accommodative. The check in desk is small and managed by 1-2 person, so you might need to wait a little longer if there are more guest checking in at same time.
Their in- house restaurant "Palmyrah" is must visit if you want to experience traditional srilankan food. The restaurant is welcoming with choice of Srilankan Cuisine, Indian and Continental. The food is equally tasty though a little pricey.
Overall a decent, safe, clean and neat hotel for short stay in Colombo.

The location was good, they have two buildings, one is old and other one is new, I stayed at new building the WiFi service was not working and the staff always give excuses about the service restoration but not fixed. I suffered with bad internet service. The breakfast was reasonable. Near by so many hotel with different kind of foods also big supermarket just a cross the road.

We stayed here for the first two nights of our three week visit to Sri Lanka and were not disappointed by our choice, the staff were friendly and super helpful arranging taxis and giving correct and useful information when we needed it, The hotel was spotless and the facilities were excellent, the rooftop terrace with infinity pool was a fabulous place to be to watch the sunset into the sea. There was also a well equipped gym (unused by us), but was air conditioned and clean. The in house restaurant was also excellent with a good choice of both western and local food on offer. Highly recommend this hotel.

Let’s get to the point.. food was amazing and matched our expatiation, “yep the F&b staff including the F&b service manager have the worst customer service “. Basic knowledge of service like not providing finger bowl, tablet set including cutlery and plates where so dirty. Lack of “communication issues” cleared our buffet ahead of schedule time. Most of all embracing thing in front of our family members for the settlement. While the event is going on. Despite of depositing the advance payment.

We stayed here for 5 nights. Received very well. The bell boys unloaded our luggage from the car and took us to our room. They provided an umbrella cover too as it was raining. The reception area looked gloomy, dark and unwelcoming. A few more furniture, some plants, and better lighting could improve the first impression. Staff was extremely good and helpful, so was booking in and checking out. Rooms were reasonably large with A/C and a good shower room. Didn't realize they top up the tiny shampoo and shower gel rather than replacing-"saving the planet?" Very good breakfast. The Palmyra restaurant was excellent.

This hotel impressed me, firstly with the price and then with the overall service received. We arrived at a ridiculous time and was picked up by the shuttle. They had great communication with queries during the time from booking to staying. The staff was very friendly and the rooms and communial areas very clean!
