We stayed at Kingsbury for 2 days in January 2020. Breakfast was good with variety of food. The room of the hotel need to be renovated as it looks a bit old. The swimming pool was good but for a 5 star hotel, it should be compulsory for everyone to have wash before entering the pool. There was a lot of indian people and no one had wash before entering the pool and my husband and I did not go in the pool after seeing that. The top room restaurant is very expensive and we don't recommend anyone to go their. We spent 100 Australian dollars and we were still hungry after that. The Galle face One shopping centre is just 10 minutes walk and there are lots of restaurants downstairs with cheaper food. Overall the service of the hotel was not bad.

The Kingsbury Hotel has good standard for the price and are very convenient located in the financial district of Colombo, near the Dutch Hospital and the Galle Face water front. My partner and I have spent the last four days in Colombo Sri Lanka where I was presenting lectures at the Sri Lankan Orthodontic Society Meeting. We stayed at the Kingsbury Hotel as recommended by one of my Australian colleagues who has visited many times and has family in the city. The location is very central and the facilities are of a very high standard. Our room was not large but it was very well appointed with everything we needed and most importantly very clean with a super comfortable bed. It’s always a positive sign when there is a steam iron and ironing board ready for you in one of the cupboards. The breakfast buffet was amongst the best I have experienced in any hotel anywhere in the world. We took some American friends to the Steak restaurant for lunch yesterday and everyone was very impressed with the quality of the food and wine and exceptional wait staff. From the moment we arrived the doorman, security, front desk staff and management were friendly, accommodating and professional. Everyone was welcoming and smiling. I honestly could not fault this hotel. We were really impressed and intend staying there again when we next visit Colombo.

I stayed at Kingsbury for 3 days and the welcome from the time I came was exceptional. At the reception was Thamith who was welcoming and went out of his way to help us with our requests. He was brilliant.We got a deluxe room with a breathtaking view of the city and the sea. The house keeping staff was attentive and each time we went in the morning on our return the room was made and kept without asking them to do so. I was amazed at the Service that we received. I also went to the Dinner buffet on Saturday at Harbour Court. They start the buffet at 6.30pm with is great as I was hungry and it gives more time to enjoy there sumptious spread that you must try out. It was array of Salads and the Sushi is amazing, it is very fresh and delicious. Mains from all over the world and their Deserts and Chocolates are mouth watering. The beverage menu is excellent as well. I think the best Buffet in Colombo, well worth the price for thr extensive array. The Kingsbury Hotel will always be the best in their Service and Standard. This review is for the Indulgence by The Kingsbury - The Kingsbury Hotel's online restaurant order platform.
During the past few weeks, we have ordered several dishes and Family Meals from the Kingsbury.
The main items we have tried include their Chicken Biryani Sawan, Mutton Biryani Sawan, Chinese Family Meal, and Indian Family Meal; among others.
All of the dishes are generously portioned, extremely delicious, and high attention has been given to even the minor ingredients of the accompaniments to elevate already delectable concoctions to something even more scrumptious.
Consistency is key, and our repeat orders have maintained the same high standard of taste and portion sizes which we love.
The food is well packaged, labelled, and served in suitable containers and lids to either preserve the heat, prevent the items from being soggy, etc. The attention to detail again is above par.
Finally, the exemplary team behind Indulgence are well trained, very polite, helpful, and well mannered. An epitome of customer service. It's been a pleasure to interact with them throughout the process.

We enjoyed a most appetising dinner and were well-looked after by the staff. The oysters were well-presented in their shells and tasted exquisite. Our lobster mains were mouth-watering and many different flavours were tasted in consuming them. Stayed here for 3 nights during our visit to Columbo. The hotel is in a lovely area on the seafront. Our room was beautiful with large window and view of the front main road and sea front. The bed was large and so comfortable with fabulous pillows and bed linen changed every day of our stay. The front entrance is lovely with welcoming staff. Breakfast had plenty of choice. The pool area is named Honey Beach Club it is beautiful with lovely warm water we did have food there which was very nice. We did visit the Kings Steak Bar which l felt was overpriced for what we had but beautifully done out. The roof top bar is amazing with plush seating and a fabulous view they also did great cocktails. Overall the Kingsbury is a stunning hotel they think of everything the service is excellent and the staff so welcoming pleasant and helpful absolutely loved my stay.

It was my Third stay within last 6 months and Happy to see Dheeraka from the Reception and Dilshan from the F&B still remembers me. Dheeraka was a lovely young gentleman in the frontline who tried to assist me at his best, unfortunately the housekeeping team did not amazed me this time as they used to do. Few troubles due to cleanliness in the room, no towels, minibar issues etc. So the first day was literally ruined.
However, we were moved to a better room in the midnight by the manager on duty and he arranged all our needs since then!
I must say, the newly renovated main restaurant looks stunning with a huge spreader breakfast buffet. Complements to the chef and his team!
P.S. Note to the Management : at some point the team explained that the hotel is running out of the towels when we reminded them for our towels in the room after 6 hours of the initial request. ( we were provided ONLY one bath towel for two person - no hand , face towels and we used one towel for 6 hours ) it would be nice to advise the team how to respond to a guest who is paying to you in an appropriate way. Upgrading a room or providing a wine in the room will not educate the staff on preventing such situations.

The hotel is one of the oldest one which has been renovated with a fine taste, quite elegant and it has a heritage flair, which I liked very much. The room is small but well organized, the only thing I did not like was the low ceiling, probably they squeezed the building to have more storeys when they renovated. And many of staff needed to improve their English, otherwise, my stay was comfortable and food in cafeteria is quite good.

Recently went to The Ocean to celebrate a birthday, due to the current situation all Hotels foot traffic is relatively lower compared to normal days, however the service here was absolutely amazing and so was the dinner. The menu was well thought out as well. Over all experience was great and all hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful.
Its quite obvious the Hotel also has taken some great measures in maintaining hygiene and disinfecting ensuring its patrons are safe and so are their team :)

Well not sure if the best but, Kingsbury Tenku Japanese restaurant is pretty good. Or you can try Shangri-La grill bar. That one I believe is the best bar in town hands down.

Hi there is no beach side area in Colombo City. Nothing where you can typically go the the beach. There are a few hotels with a bit of beach, like the Galle Face Hotel, but it's literally a corner. Mount Lavinia Hotel also does, but Colombo is more of the city feel. If you're staying at
The Kingsbury you will be near to the Old Dutch Hospital Shopping complex which is ok for shopping but not great. They have a few interesting shops like Barefoot and LuvSL for Sri Lankan items and restaurants. The Odel Department Store is one of the best places for shopping in Colombo. Also the Independence Arcade Mall. If you google those two you'll get an idea. They have international and local brands. Other nice shops are scattered over the city with a few malls that are pathetic. To be honest, Sri Lanka is no great shopping experience like Thailand and Malaysia. But within the island the above is where you can shop and also Galle Fort in Galle (South). Hope this helps!
