Last night in Sri Lanka before flying home. Situated overlooking the ocean, the staff of this hotel were extremely helpful, attentive and friendly. The rooms were pleasant with a very good ensuite bathroom. Breakfasts, both Western and Sri Lankan, were very tasty and plentiful. We really appreciated the top floor terrace with our last "Arrack" night cap! The proximity of the trains may be an issue for some but Colombo is a bustling city.

The Ocean Front was a haven for myself and my travel buddy arriving in Colombo jet-lagged and disorientated. We had a fabulous top floor room which had very high ceilings, big bathroom,TV, bar fridge,ceiling fan and aircon. We had direct access to the terrace, great for a cold Lion beer and view over the ocean. Be prepared for quirks such as the low railing of the roof top terrace, especially if having a few drinks. Safety standards are up to the individual to uphold. The host was very pleasant and helpful, but i don't recommend you follow his tips for the local restaurant "just up the road", which was two blocks away, catering to foreign people, bad atmosphere, very average food and very overpriced. There is a grocery store about 200m along the ocean front to buy basics (no alcohol).

Got picked up by a friendly driver after a long flight from UK.The room was excellent .The helpful staff was ever attentive and was given plenty of information about things to do around Colombo and available tours. The meals were well priced and tasty. The room rate was reasonable. I have no hesitation in recommending for any type of traveller.

I consider myself a very objective reviewer and I'll be as honest and clear as I can be:
1. Found hotel online, great reviews, booked 2. Traveled for 18 hours and a series of flights, then car, to get here 3. Room was not available. Heard a story about a guest getting sick and they let him stay longer. Not my problem. 4. Put us in a nearby hotel that was listed online for 50% of what we paid. We booked Ocean View. The room we were given had wall and small dog house outside of it. 5. The compensation? You can have a big breakfast. Well I don't eat breakfast. I wake up late and go see things. No discount or refund offered. 6. Didn't feel like taking time out of our next day to change rooms, nor to move into a room where a sick man was staying right before us. 7. Immediately booked a room at a nearby hotel that was excellent. 8. Got refund. Wrote this review.
Here's what should have happened ideally before we arrived at the hotel: "We are sorry to inform you that we screwed up. Here's 2 nights at a comparable hotel with an ocean view."

I only stayed here for 2 nights, but I have never been treated so well. The personal treatment is awesome. The rooms are brand new and the best bed I've slept in in Sri Lanka. Don't let the lack of advertising on the building stop you from coming in (I almost left due to the lack of signage)

Arrived at around 6.30am from airport. Sat around very tired waiting for a room, decided to have breakfast whilst we waited. Thankfully someone left early and vacated a room which they immediately cleaned for us and we took procession around 9.30am. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Room basic, good aircon, a little noisy from the trains. We would use this hotel again. Oh we went to pay and gave the guy the money US$, only for him to bring it back saying book g.com has already paid him. We would not have known until returning home so 10/10 for honesty.

We stayed at the Ocean Front on two separate occasions during our holiday in Sri Lanka and we weren't disappointed even one bit. (1)Excellent vantage point (close to the city center), (2)the scenic view from the room (3) clean and cozy rooms (4) extremely helpful staff (5) last but not the least delicious local cuisine.
I would definitely recommend the Ocean Front and i for sure will be coming here again

We stayed at the Ocean Front for three nights and enjoyed every bit of it. It has great location, magnificent ocean view, simple but beautiful room, and great shower. We stayed in the room with the view on the top floor and really liked it. It has a small balcony that we used in the morning before the sun was too strong. We enjoyed the roaring sound of the Indian ocean. For those who prefer a quite room, rooms with the view are not a good choice, as the sound of the ocean and passing trains, could be a bit too loud. When we were checking in, we were offered to change the room if we thought that the sound of trains would bother us. As it didn't we stayed in the room with the view. We didn't eat at the hotel as there are many great places in the vicinity. (Do not miss the Paradise Road Gallery Cafe). The only downside for someone with mobility issues, it is not accessible and the stairs could be too much. Staff is super friendly and helpful. We would return to this place.

The staff at The Ocean Front Hotel, from management to chefs to general staff, all understand the meaning of 'service' and every one of them went out of their way to ensure every aspect of our stay with them was perfect, from their welcome on our arrival to their fond farewell at departure. The management not only ensured that our needs at the hotel were met, but also organised transport and tours for us, and followed up with airlines for our onward bookings - they went out of their way to ensure our holiday went without a hitch. Perhaps the most outstanding feature of this lovely little boutique hotel is the exceptionally high quality of their food and the variety they provided during our stay of five nights. Every evening there was something new and different and delicious for our meal; and each morning they adapted breakfast to meet our every requests. The rooms were very comfortable and clean, with fresh linen every day (unusual even in some larger hotels) and the dining and lounge area was homely and welcoming. Our elderly parents, who accompanied us, said they felt like they were at home. And the location is so convenient - easy access to the centre of town; a pleasant walk to Gaul Face, and lovely views across the ocean. A perfect little hotel that I will recommend to everyone.

We stayed here a couple of nights to do some shopping in Colombo before heading down to the coast. The service was great and the staff was wonderful! The food was delicious – try the Sri Lankan Curry! The room was spacious and comfortable. It looks like the bathroom was recently renovated. I would stay here again. My room was in the back away from the road and I found the room quiet. My friend’s room was in the front closer to the road and she said the room was quite loud – a set of earplugs should rectify this. The staff arranged to pick us up at the airport and when we needed a tuk tuk to get around to various shopping destinations they arranged for that too.

i have not seen a pool or jacuzzi..a beach is not in the near.. you can see the coast linefrom the hotel, but you can not go into water there.. you must cross the railway lines to go to the water.. be carefull..i will say there are no suitable beach in colombo.. but north..one miles from the hotel they was a litle beach.. go to negombo or south Sri Lanka if you want to enjoy a god beach.

If you really want to stay in this hotel, probably 206 number room is OK. In fact this hotel is situated just by the ocean and from hotel you can see the ocean but environment is like that you can not go to the ocean for your bath or relaxation. I will be ready to answer to your any question regarding this hotel if you need.
