This was a old hotel which really ran down once upon a time until it became a total dump. It has now been completely renewed. Its not a restoration. Its an adaptation of a old building for contemporary use. It is now a new Budget hotel. USD 70 for BB The staff and management are new at the game and...

When you think of the legacy heritage properties around the world, Hotel Nippon has quite a story to tell. The recent revamp of an ageing property located right smack in the heart of a bustling Colombo shows the value and foresight by the owning family to really turn the screws and make the hotel relevant to this day and age....

I found the overall 'Kerala' experience at the Bamboo Room underwhelming. The decor and ambiance were spartan. But that;s OK. But the food was disappointing. Except for the banana-leaf baked fish. And maybe the biriyani. The prawns were small and tasteless. I was later told, by a regular, that their beef preparation was good. But am unlikely to make a...

The hotel was re-furbished recently and now it looks like a modern city hotel. However they have touched the historical sides with paintings, building design etc. Almost everything has been changed and all accessories are new. Food department needs some improvement and the variety needs to be added. Rooms are excellent and the facilities are also great. Parking facility is...

After being fans of this place a very long time ago, we were so happy to see it revived. The mutton rolls at the Kafe are still phenomenal and last night we visited the Bamboo room. The waiter got our order wrong but they were so apologetic. Anyway the food was so great. The mutton curry was the best, we...

Visited them after the refurbishment and loved the service :) Ordered some short eats from their "Kafe" including the famous mutton rolls and loved it!!! The staff is fantastic. Very prompt and friendly. Apart from my little order, I manged to check out the rest of the hotel except the rooms since I didn't have enough time. The original 125...

The hotel was closed for a while for refurbishment and it's open again. The place looks very good. Didn't stay at the hotel but visited the cafe several times. The famous Nippon mutton and beef rolls are back and they taste the same as it was 20 years ago. Yummy!! The prices have increased threefold but it's still value for...

It's good experience. Don't go by old reviews. It's a brand new hotel, renovated and refurbished to a four star hotel. A coffee shop, two restaurants, one bar, a conference room and 49 rooms with very friendly staff. It's centrally air conditioned with central hot water system. Good quality linen, gel pillows, carpeted and very clean rooms of four star...
