Since we found a small break in our schedule and since it's close by and I've always wanted to visit Tintagel, we went ahead with a 1 night stay

1st things 1st.
The hotel is incredibly prepared and takes all possible measures in welcoming guests during the pandemic. Temp check by the security, Staff has their masks on at all times, sanitizer available and the place looked spotless

The rooms are spacious and they are equipped with antique furniture that adds to the grandeur of the venue. The art collection at Tintagel is 2nd to none and I think they are the largest collection at a single site.

Staff is incredible and friendly. Whenever my 3-year old had a request, they were very happy to accommodate with a happy face.

The food at Tintagel is AMAZING. We ad dinner and breakfast and everything we had was prepared to perfection. They tasted so good

Overall if you know the story behind the mansion and if you have the time, I would certainly recommend them.

I booked my honeymoon through the travel agency Antilog vacations and we got a great deal almost 50% off in our package. The travel
agency had been recommended by one of my friends after her honeymoon and they
helped us select the resort in Colombo. The Paradise Road Tintagel located in the
Rosemead area of Colombo was booked as our stay there.
Having prior information the hotel authorities had booked the honeymoon suite
for us. My wife appreciated the gesture. Our room was decorated with red roses and the
bed was quiet comfortable too. The suite was accompanied with a plunge pool and a
large bath. The bottle of red wine was also a nice gift from the authorities.
While ordering for the food the staff helped us select perfect meal and on the last
day arranged for a candle lit dinner by the trees in the garden. The dinner by the minute
floating candle provided a memory that I would treasure for lifetime. The crew in general
was also quite non-fussy and helped us maintain our privacy. The housekeeping guys
were adept at their jobs and kept our room clean.
The travel desk at the reception was quite vibrant and arranged a tuk tuk for a trip to the
nearby places. My wife particularly liked the Galle Face Green, a famous sightseeing
spot in the vicinity. The Paradise Road bordering the resort is also littered with various
small shops for antiques and souvenirs. We had a great time in selecting the choicest
artifacts for our family. There was a large furniture shop down the road too which looked
quite popular from its crowd.
Thus the Tintagel Resort at the Paradise Road provided us with numerous memories
from the trip and the people really helped us feel at home. Thus we would suggest the
resort for a homely stay in Sri Lanka.

There are many positive things to say about the Tintagel. It is located in a quiet but convenient location which is a short tuktuk ride to the center of town. The staff are incredibly friendly and the level of service is impeccable. The hotel’s restaurant has an excellent variety of menus items from which to choose, and everything we ate was really good. The wines are reasonably priced. We opted for a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast every morning.

The building is beautiful. The premises are spotless. Where I do find fault with the Tintagel is routine maintenance. Wall paint is chipped in the public areas and the rooms. Window blinds didn’t function due to broken cords. Window shades didn’t function properly due to torn fabric. If it were not for these maintenance issues I would have given the hotel a five star rating. Simply put, this is a diamond in the rough that needs a little more attention.

My husband and I stayed at the Tintagel for a total of 6 nights (4 at the beginning of our trip and 2 at the end). Our son, who was working in Sri Lanka, joined us in our suite. Although the Tintagel is expensive by Sri Lankan standards, we have paid more than that for a basic Hampton Inn room in the United States. The first 4 nights we had a large suite, with a separate bedroom, outdoor space, and huge bathroom. Our suite for the second stay was smaller but still very comfortable. The rooms, lobby, and dining rooms are for air conditioned. The courtyard (where we ate most of our meals) is pleasant most of the day since it is shaded and has umbrellas and fans to provide relief from the heat.

We were greeted on arrival (both times) with homemade ginger beer, which was delicious. Over the course of our stay, we ate breakfast there all but one morning (just had coffee and a pastry that morning) and enjoyed afternoon tea, drinks and appetizers in the small bar, and two dinners (one outside and one in the dining room). The food was primarily western and quite good.

But the star of the Tintagel is its staff. Rarely have we experienced such professional and caring attention. On our return trip, we came to the Tintagel after a very long and delayed train ride from Kandy. How wonderful it was to see familiar smiling faces and the champagne flutes of ginger beer as we checked in.

Only one quirky thing to point out: The hairdryer provided in the room didn't work with the electrical outlet in the bathroom. Fortunately, we had an adapter with us.

Other than that, the Tintagel was OUTSTANDING in every way. If Sri Lanka didn't entail 20 hours in the air from our home, we would return regularly to be treated like honored guests and friends.

We booked relatively late for a pre Christmas break. The Hotel is in a great area, quiet and good access to transportation when you want to go sightseeing. The building itself is beautiful, however it does need some TLC as some maintenance points are lacking, however oozes charm at every turn. The breakfast was AMAZING and the staff are lovely. The quality of the food was excellent, as was the coffee. One tiny niggle - dont charge guests for the milk to make a cup of tea with...its not in the spirit of hospitality.

Stayed at Paradise Toad Tintagel as part of a one night stopover before touring Sri Lanka. This very appealing historic boutique hotel is in a posh neighborhood of town in a quiet side road. All staff were very friendly and welcoming.

With only a handful of rooms (called suites), the service was very individual. Rooms are decorated in a black and white color scheme and wooden flooring. Being a historic building, we had some challenges to find power outlets to charge our devices. First world problems 😅.

There’s a lap pool in the in the center of the building and a very limited gym area. Nice bar and restaurant. We enjoyed our breakfast on the terrace of the Tintagel with an a la carte selection of western and Sri Lankan dishes.

Overall it was a different experience compared to staying at one of the major chain and much bigger five stars hotels in Colombo. Once in a lifetime experience. We were happy staying there, but would probably stay somewhere else when back in Colombo because the city offers so much variety when it comes to accommodations.

Recently travelled to Sri Lanka to see family and spent 6 nights here. Obviously it is a very difficult time for the country , situated close to various embassies felt very safe here, the staff went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable , design is similar to luxury small boutique hotels. Also close to airport and good value relative to some of the other bigger hotels. Would stay there again.

Why stay in a large hotel when you can experience the most magical stay at this historical boutique hotel?!!! The amazing staff make you feel right at home the moment you set your foot on the verandah. You are greeted with the beautiful signature scent of Paradise Road as you enter the building that once was the home to Sir Bandaranaike and his family. Every room has a unique charm with some of the original furnishings remaining. Housekeeping keeps the rooms spotless - we had the wonderful Saman taking special care of us. We slept so well and were surprised by how quiet it was considering how central this hotel is. Breakfast was wonderful and the dinner menu just as fantastic catering for vegetarians also, not to forget the wonderful cocktails. We also visited the groups gallery restaurant and shopped at their home ware store. Can’t recommend this hotel enough!! We will be back very soon. Thank you so much Paradise Road team for making us fall in love with Sri Lanka.

The boutique style Paradise Road hotel is housed in a stunning colonial heritage building.

Paradise Road Tintagel is located 45minutes from the International Airport in is in close to many embassies and business located in Colombo's upmarket neighbourhood.

We booked the Suite which was located on the ground floor and was extremely spacious and elegantly furnished, with a separate lounge area, bedroom and French doors leading out to a small courtyard with a private plunge pool.

The bathroom was enormous with bathtub and separate shower.

The restaurant was good offering tasty breakfast and dinner. There is also an outdoor fresco restaurant area which is nice for evening dinners.

Other facilities included an open air swimming pool, bar and library,

Overall - A true boutique colonial style hotel offering charm and character to enrich and experience Sri Lankan culture.

Had a lovely lunch here with contacts. Lovely setting - interior decor is exquisite (requiring a little touch up).
Menu was nice - I had the salmon/caviar starter and then we all ordered our individual main dishes.
Service was good throughout and attentive - food was really tasty. Outdoor seating possible too but it was too humid.
Car parking available.

Does anyone know the difference between exec suit and royal suite?
Answer from millietess

Hi We stayed here 3 weeks ago in an Executive suite. It was very nice and very spacious. I understand Prince Charles stayed here about 3 years ago and clearly had the best room in the hotel (Royal Suite). We asked to look and it was a very large suite, but if you are only 'passing through' then the exec suite is large and lovely .

Ours was organized by Blue Lanka Tours. So I can't answer part of the question. It took approximately an hour to get to this hotel. I don't know the answer to the question about the fort as we did thjs in the end.

There are many hotels and best to consult Tripadvisor. Are you looking for spa hotels in the southern part of Colombo or south of Colombo, or southern Sri Lanka. In any event, a search on Tripadvisor should give you a lot of results.
